I just finished a fresh cycle and was supposed to have my ET today, but I misread my directions and started my progesterone 1 day late so I was cancelled. I have 4 frozen embryos and my current RE says we can start a FET with my 2nd AF. I'm questioning if it is time to break up with this RE and was wondering if I could switch to a new RE and still use my frosties from this RE. Can a new RE get my frozen embryos? Thanks to anyone with some insight.

omg I'm so sorry to hear that! Thats crazy, I never heard of anything like this happen, I guess your RE is just being careful. I think you can transfer frozen embryos to another clinic but you have to pay some fees but i know it can be done. I totally understand about thinking of switching RE she does sound weird first with scaring you about the OHSS now this. I just dont understand how 1 day makes a difference when if i understand correctly if you trigger with HCG your corpetus lutueum(sp?) produces progesterone once the eggs have been retrieved, so i cant think of why 1 day would make a difference. I guess each RE is different and I'm sorry you are having such difficulties. Are your embies frozen at 3day or blast stage? GL at your FET baby dust!!!!!

Perhaps there is some good reason why they could not just thaw the embryos one day later to compensate? That's what we would do, but it's possible somebody (doctor or embryologist) is on a fixed schedule and cannot be available one day later.
Yes, you can have your frozen embryos shipped elsewhere. I'm not sure if every clinic does this, but I know mine has shipped and received frozens.

Wow - first let me say I'm so sorry for all the frustration that you must be feeling right now! Cancelling a cycle for any reason is frustrating. Ghost is right...just thawing a day later would make sense, so there must be another reason why they cancelled your cycle.
If you decide to switch practices you absolutely can transfer your totcicles - after all they are YOUR totcicles Find a new practice first and talk with them to determine their procedure before talking with your old doctor. This way you can assure that the transfer of your FET embroys goes smoothly.

In that case i would think they would have had to freeze the embryos particularly if it was a 5 day transfer,,
i am not sure that would be a reason to need a new re.. but maybe i am confused.
I think you are correct. I read it incorrectly and thought it was an FET cycle following a fresh cycle. Oops.
Any form of ovulatory trigger, whether hCG or a GnRH agonist (like Lupron), will immediately luteinize the follicles and cause them to start producing large quantities of progesterone, at the same point in time relative to embryo development as in a natural cycle. In most patients, the follicles make a lot more progesterone than is in the supplements. Therefore, starting progesterone promptly on the day after trigger or the day of retrieval, or even a day or 2 later, is pretty much irrelevant.

Ghost...yes it was a fresh cycle cancelled the day of the ET. So are you saying that your clinic wouldhave gone forward with the transfer? I asked repeatedly to do this and my RE simply refused. Very frustrating.
And for clarification, I am not thinking about breaking up with my RE for this reason alone. There have been many bumps int he road and I don't feel like I was treated fairly through this last situation just to top it all off.

Probably we would have. It's very likely you had plenty of progesterone from your follicular production. In a natural cycle, there is one follicle making progesterone. In a fresh IVF cycle, there are many.
