Anaemia/iron tablets

Hiya girls Just to let you know, in case any of you have the same problem, my blood test at 28 wks showed I was anaemic (thought so as I'd been so nackered and feeling really weak/faint). Anyway, docs prescribed iron tablets called 'Ferrous Sulphate' which were smallish white 3 a day tablets. At first I thought I was feeling a bit better, but then after 2-3 days they gave me stomach ache and made me sick. Been to docs today and changed them for the 1 a day slow release red tablets which are meant to be easier on the stomach, so fingers crossed I will start to feel better soon. Anyway, just a warning to anyone else who needs iron - it might be worth asking for the one a day ones to start with??!! Luv Rachel X

Rachel, Oh joy...I can so sympathise, I was on the litle white ones from the start. I can recommend though eating lots of dried apricots, as they are full of iron and settle the tummy. They really helped me (and even helped early on with morning sickness!!) And the joys of Black Poo!!!!! Sorry...and I haven't even had my breakfast yet!! Nicky

Hi Rachel, I took both the little white ones and the little red ones and both make me sick!! I am now taking liquid herbal iron called 'floradix' You get this from health food shops (takes horrible but doesn't make me sick!) Just thought I would post this in case you continued to feel lousy!! Obviously I hope you dont!! Hope the rest of your pregancy goes smoothly.. Lots of love Kirsty xx
