New to IVF and this board

Post by loudenbeck10 »

Hi just wanted to introduce "us" I am Amanda (30) and DH is Chris (31) we are starting our venture into IVF as soon as AF shows up. I am currently 15dpo today but blood work was negative. I just have to call my fertility doctor as soon as she shows. We have had 4 medicated cycles 2 which were iUis all resulting in BFNs. So we aren't going to waste any more money...moving onto the "big guns" of IVF.

I look forward to the support and knowledge you guys will have to offer.

I have tried one cycle of IUI and hasn't worked I am 34 years of age and so is my husband he has a low sperm count and motility with half of his sperm no good. I have went to a new clinic now that only specializing in fertility called the Gyft clinic. i have found out through them that my prog level is low and that my cervix lining is at a 12.94 and should be at 10 or below. With this new info I was advised that I was no longer a candidate for clomid and that I would have to start injections at $100.00 per injections with 10 per cycle of IUI. I have made a difficult decision to go ahead with IVF yes it is more costly but only by about $3000.00 since I need the injections anyway. I am scared now I feel like this is it a make or break as we only have enough money to get this 1 shot since nothing is covered by insurance. I will start my birth control pills next month and have the procedure done in Jan I just wanted to share my stories and here others that are going through the same situation and get some support and also offer someone in need of support.

Hi Amanda, and welcome. I too am a newbie to these boards and to IVF altogether. I have started the December transfers board and hope you can join the discussion. So far I have gained lots of knowledge about what to expect and it is always nice to meet those who have already gone through it. There seems to be lots of positive support here. Baby dust to you and it is a pleasure meeting you. =]

Hi Amanda,

No worries I am also a newbie and a newbie to IVF also and so all of this information is overwhelming. I must say I didn't even know what the acronyms were and thanks to Cshell she helped me understand them. But I am in the December board and the people are very nice and welcoming. So hope to speak to you soon.
