PIO IM injections question

Post by BakersBaby »

I am 3.5 weeks into my nightly PIO injections. Thanks to my recent BFP I have 5.5 more weeks to go. For the past few days my hips have been really sore and are starting to bruise. I realize that this is normal. Afterall, they are getting "abused" every other night. Is there anything I can do to help? I have read of icing before hand, but that is to numb the injection. I don't find that the injections themselves hurt. I tried sitting on the heating pad tonight and I think it made the pain worse. Any pointers?

Are they red and bumpy and hot? I had an allergy develop to them eventually and just had to tough it out, but at one point I developed an infection and needed meds.

If its both sides, then its probably not an infection. The only thing I found that helped was taking a 30 min walk right after the injection to get the muscle moving and meds distributed.

Good luck! -aint that pain worth it though :-)

I am 10 wks pregnant and have been on 2cc of PIO daily since before the ET. I am so bruised and swollen on both sides. I even have scar tissue. There's been a couple of times that the needle has trouble going in or the progesterone itself is hard to inject. I wake up everytime I roll over in bed at night. I'm sorry to say that I've tried everything. The only thing that I think may help a little is the massage the injection site kinda hard to break up the oil. It seems like when it sits in one spot that it forms a knot. Sometimes I don't have time to do it because I have to take my daughter to school, but sometimes that doesn't even help. I've gotten used to the injection itself, but it's the few hours after that starts to get to you.

I did call my RE today and he said that I could switch to Endometrin twice daily. He had said before that if I had gotten to a point where I had to switch that I would do it 3 times a day. Now that I'm 10wks, he is going to taper my dosage.

I wish I could help more. Talk to your RE and see what he says. Maybe you can switch to something else.

Good luck! Hang in there. It's for a good cause.
