Waiting for period... please help!

Post by ann d. »

Hi everyone!

Here's my recent situation. I had a failed FET in November and started my period December 5th. Now I'm waiting for my next period to start. My cycles usually are 28 days- give or take a day. However, back in April it was 34 days. I took a pregnancy test yesterday (day 34) hoping it was a miracle; and it was negative. Boo!! So I know I'm not pregnant. Anyway, what else could be taking so long? I am now on day 35. Should I call my OB/Gyn on Monday (day 37) if it doesn't come by then or just wait it out? I know for some women a 35 day cycle is normal. It just has never been my normal. Any ladies have similar experiences after an IVF cycle or FET cycle?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry your FET didn't work (and you didn't get a 'miracle' pregnancy!)..... I always start a pack of birth control pills after a failed cycle (starting from when I start to bleed) so that I can easily control when my next period is. But then again, I don't have regular cycles at all without it.

I would call your doctor. He can give you progesterone to take for a few days. When you stop taking it, you'll get your period.

Are you waiting for a period so you can start a new FET/IVF cycle? Best of luck!

Thanks leorira11. Still no AF. Just wasn't sure if it was something more serious. I thought it was coming last night, but nothing happened. I wonder if it has anything to do with progesterone or estradiol shots. Maybe just being on hormones for awhile threw my body out of whack?? I don't know.

Again, if anyone has any thoughts or if this has happened to them, please share. Don't know what could be taking so long.

DH and I decided to go for another round of IVF, but won't happen until April to correlate with time off work.

Hi Ann

When your waiting for AF to arrive and its on your mind you start stressing a little.....
i know through experience and even though i said to my partner IM NOT STRESSING.....
Deep down i was, so the next day i just tried to take my mind off of it as best i could
and within 4 days AF arrived!!!!

So hun just try and relax (i know its easier said then done) and before you know it AF will arrive xx

Thank you ladies. The nurse from my clinic returned my call today and said to wait it out for a week and then call if it doesn't come. It could be from the hormones of the failed IVF that has thrown me off track. I'm feeling better that it's nothing to be alarmed about.
