Had a scare yesterday!

Post by suzanne »

Hi all,

well yesterday morning I got myself into an absolute state because the baby hadn't moved at all. If I'm honest it hadn't even been that long, but the panic was compounded by the fact that I'd had a very quiet day, movement wise, the day before.

Anyway I rang the labour ward who suggested I have a hot drink and some toast, and give it half an hour before calling back. Before that I'd tried a cold drink, wobbling, shaking, poking, prodding, you name it, but didn't feel so much as a flutter.

They told me to come into the hospital and just as the midwife called me from the waiting room, guess who woke up.......what a bl**dy relief. They had me hooked up to a foetal heart and movement monitor for about half an hour, and everything was fine.

You feel like a bit of a time waster but the midwife told me to trust my instincts.

So roll on October 7th, cos I just want the little tyke to get here now. The midwife suggested I start taking Rasberry Leaf tea, to help the labour along. Has anyone else been told the same?

Suzanne.x

Hi Suzanne,

Poor you having such a scare like that, glad everything is OK for you now - guessing they are going to be a little monkey when they get here :) Certainly don't feel you are a time waster - remember it is what they are paid for (and what you have paid your NI for for umpteen years).

The girls on FF have a few tips to help getting labour started including Raspberry Leaf Tea -
a hot curry,
a long walk,
a rough reflexology session,
and a good session of 'special cuddles' with dh (hmm hope you get that one - FF has a lovely little smilie for it which ends in cigars, if that helps)
ooh and a tractor ride (??!!!??).

Take Care

lots of love Fiona xxx

Hi Suzanne

Glad to hear your little one is keeping you on your toes already!! :-) What a relief to hear that everything is OK - I've only been hooked up to the monitors once but was mesmerised by the sound of the heartbeat! Magical.

I've heard that as baby gets bigger, their movement slows down - maybe he/she is saving his/her energy for birth!!

Keep us posted.

helen xx

Hi Suzanne

I am glad everything was ok, the thing is the worrying never stops but hey you got the movement and that is the main thing. Yeah I have heard that Rasberry Tea is supposed to be good, and also a hot curry, but hey I am sure it will be here before you know it.

Love
Shell.
23wks pg
xx

I love that Fiona talked of 'special cuddles', only for Kirsty to come in with yeah I've heard a good old bonk does the trick!

Can't remember the last good bonk we had, or more to the point the last good bonk DH had! All he gets from me is 'ooh....ow!....not there.....ooh no, move a bit....bl**dy hell that hurt....have you nearly finished!!'

Tell me it's not just me!!!

Suzanne.x

Suzanne

My thoughts exactly!! Fiona politely says one thing, Kirsty just comes straight out with it!! :-)

I can't advise you on the bonking front - can't remember what it's like since our scare a few weeks ago. All carnal activity is off the menu for the foreseable future!! :-(

Helen xx
