Some Hope Needed!

Hi Girls Just a quick question... Are any of you pregnant through ICSI and if yes, how bad is your DH's sperm? It's just that I am about to start No. 3 (1st ICsi success, but m/c 9 weeks, 2nd negative). And we had a sperm test done at the ARGC, and Dh count is all time low at <100,000 and only 10% motility. I know it only takes one, but I am scared of failure again, but also scared of miscarriage again (as sperm quality is so poor). Any success stories would be greatly appreciated! Hi Tina. Yes, I am pregnant through ICSI and my dh's sperm was worse than your dh. He had less than 1,000 sperm and because they had to do surgery to retrieve them, the sperm were immature, they were not motile at all, just twitching a little. I know that nothing is definite and we can't control everything, but I wouldn't let your dh's last test add to your worry. ICSI takes care of these problems! I hoped I helped a little. Best of Luck! Hi Tina, I am pregnant on our second IVF with ICSI attempt. I can't remember how many sperm DH had, but I know that he had 70% sperm antibodies so they were all killing each other, and another 15% were 'shimmering on the spot' so they were obviously undecided about where to go! We did quite a lot of things to boost DH's sperm (one of which was making him eat boxes and boxes of brazil nuts in chocolate for the selenium, so I posted all the things we did on the 'Vitamins' thread earlier today. I too am Pregnant through ICSI and my husbands sperm had terrible motility, morphology and numbers. There were approximately 2% "normal" sperm in all the samples he gave. I honestly thought that it was the end for us when we had that report back - but you're right - they only need ONE of the little terrors!! ICSI is truly a wonderful thing as it would have been so unlikely that standard IVF could have worked for us. Keep going - it can easily work for you. Keep that PMA up & running. Hi Tina, It can happen! My DH's count was never more than a few million, and over 90% were abnormal morphology. A lot of 'em didn't move much either! We had another problem in that my PCOS meant my eggs were a bit immature and only some of them could be injected, but they obviously managed to root out a prize sperm - I'm 14 wks today. On our notes they had written 'ICSI difficult', so we felt a bit despondent, but here we are. It could just as easily be you! I don't know much about miscarriage, but I think it's much more likely that there may have been something wrong with your little one and that's why it didn't make it. I think if it was to do with ropey sperm it probably just wouldn't have implanted, or grown well enough to be put back (some of our embryos just stopped on day 1 before ET). Hi everyone Well I really can't thank you enough! I was having severe doubts that it would happen for us - but your success stories really have helped - I can't put into words how much! This whole thing is a rollercoaster, and boy I've been through some up and downs, but never this low...so all your positives have made me feel more positive. Hi Tina, Just to add that My dh's sperm was less than 1,000 000 ,He also had extremly poor mobility too. We are now 36 weeks pg with 1st ICSI cycle (with ARGC too) PMA is important and remember that it really does just take one!! Best of luck with your treatment Love kirsty x
