Hi Fiona, you asked for my views on the Jane travel system with the Matrix car seat. Sorry it's taken me a while to respond, but thought I'd use it for a while before I gave you an opinion. The pushchair itself is great, very light weight and easy to manoeuvre. I have the Matrix set up on it all the time and during the day and early evening just put Daniel down to sleep in that. It's really roomy and he looks really comfortable in it. The one down side that I find with the Matrix though is that it's pretty damned heavy. I went out on my own with him the other day and had a job to carry the seat. Obviously though, if you were going to go some distance with it you'd pop it onto the travel system though. The other thing is that because the Matrix is a lie flat seat it's quite big, so I can't quite get my head around how we'd manage to get it on a shopping trolley, hence he hasn't been around the supermarket yet, but that's no bad thing if you can get a sitter. Steve's still off work at the moment and takes Daniel out for a walk every day, he's well impressed with the pushchair......quite impressed too that he gets a lot of admiring glances from women...I'm not sure whether it's the pushchair though or him that is attracting the attention. Having said that, since we've turned into Wayne and Waynetta since Dan arrived, I suppose it must be the pushcahir. All in all I'm really happy with it, but as I don't really have anything to compare it to, I'm not sure how good a recommendation that is. You mentioned that Les had heard bad reports on it, maybe if you could be specific in terms of the faults then I could let you know what I think. Anyway hope this helps. Take care, Suzanne.x

Hi Suzanne, Don't worry, I wasn't expecting a reply for a while, and I appreciate any comments at all. I fancy the Jane stuff and Les fancies the Maxi-Cosi Quinny (plus some undecided car seat to make it a travel system). The reports he'd heard were that everything was rather heavy and that the Matrix was pretty narrow, and so wouldn't be suitable for a 'chubby' baby for as long as it reckons (not that we know quite what ours will be, of course - Les was born 6 weeks premature and I was quite dainty as a baby). So, I don't think the PowerTrack pushchair weight is an issue - we need to see if I can actually get it in my boot in its folded state (I have a Suzuki Jimny, the teeniest little 4x4 you can buy and the boot is rather pathetic!). Les was worried about lifting it as the foot of my boot is higher than most if it was heavy. As for the carrier - Perhaps my TKD training may help me to carry it

. Like you say, if its long distances you'd put it on the pushchair. As for supermarket shopping, one advantage of living with mum is that she does the weekly shop to get her 10% Tesco discount, so we only ever 'pop' in for little odds and ends. For me, the main advantages for the Jane stuff are that there is no separate 'buggy' seat still in place as I think this will make it less easy to get in my boot, and the lie down system. Hope I didn't worry you about there being faults - I should really have said from the beginning, I didn't think, sorry Suzanne. Most of the reports seem excellent. I hope Steve's better soon although it is giving him a great excuse to spend lots of time with Daniel, isn't it? I also hope you are resting whilst they are out - Wayne and Waynetta sounds the best way to go in the first stages of parenthood from what I can tell

Well I took the first step and re registered with FF......now I just need to get my head around getting a picture in the gallery. If I struggle with it though I'll do what you suggested previously and see if the administator (forget who you said now) can put it on for me. I think Les may have a point about the Matrix not being suitable for big babies but I don't think that would be too much of a problem during the first year (I hope). I think the seat was intended for children up to 18 months if I remember rightly. You're right about Steve, it's been great for me too, having him at home for these first weeks. I don't know how moms cope when hubby goes back to work after a week. I've a new found respect for single parents too, it must be so tough to have no one that you can rely on for some support in those early days. And as for the parents of twins or more.....bloody hell, don't know how they do it! Sorry to hear you had a weepy start to the day, glad you're feeling better now though. Saw your other post re your boss, you could really do without that, so try and ignore the idiot....difficult though I know. Anyway, look after yourself. Suzanne.x
