Hi Everyone

How is everyone doing today, is any of you suffering with terrible heartburn. The thing is it's so bad its making me feel sick, just wanted to see if anyone else is suffering.

Also I am finding I am getting a lot of backache now well I say alot of backache it feels like its in my ribs.

I am due to go and have my bloods done next week at the midwife this will be when I am 28wks I think the weeks are going quick now.

Love
Shell.
26wks 6d pg
xx

Shell,

Handy hints from Auntie Nicky

Gaviscon is quite good, and if you keep it in the fridge it doesn't seem to taste so bad.

Raise the top of your bed...a couple of bricks under the feet of the bed at your head helps reduce the heartburn at night. I used two dictionaries and it did make a difference.

If baby is up at the top of your ribs I was told to put an icepack at the top of your bump as the baby tends to move down a bit (Bit of an old wives tale I think!!)

And if none of that helps then at least you can know you will get a baby with hair (lol) ahhh the joys of pg and it does go away the day after the birth!!!

Take Care
Nicky

Hi Nicky

Thanks for the info, when I went to the GP she didn't give me Gavisicon she gave me Pepced which is similar but it's not going. I will have to try those things you have said. People do say to me that if you suffer with heartburn your baby will born with lots of hair, I best start platting now lol hee hee.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Love
Shell.
xx

Hi Shell
I went through a really bad period of heartburn and was prescribed Gaviscon. It really worked for more, but I have been told that the aniseed one is better ( ihad aniseed ) than the peppermint.
Sorry no other advice apart from ice cold water helped me!

LOL
Emma
x
Shell

You poor thing! Haven't had any yet, and have never had it ever before, so I don't know what its like, sounds bl**dy grim though!

I've heard milk can do the trick, presumably on the same basis as Gaviscon or pepcid, i.e. 'cos its alkaline.

Other than that, bugger all help to you!

I can't believe youve only got 13 weeks to go - that's gone so fast!

Take care

Love

Rachel
x
Hi Shell,

I suffered from terrible heartburn and lived off Gaviscon for about half of my pregnancy. But the old wives tale definitely doesn't work for me - at 19 months, my daughter still has no hair!

Jules

hi shell
i have a completely different one for you,
bicarbonate of soda- some people mix it with 2 teaspoons of biacarb, tiny drop of hot water and a drop of cold milk, others just mix it with cold milk, and i myself found.... a small container that could fit into your bag..raw..lick the top of your finger and dip it into bicarb and lick it off.. tastes foul but works immediately.
now that is an old irish way and i know loads of people who still take it on a regular bases,but...... you might not be brave enough to try it, it is horrible.
the only other thing i know that works is a drop of peppermint.
hope i have been of some help.
love jackie xxx

Hi Shell,
When I was pg, I was nearly driven demented with heartburn, my sister told me to try rennie rapeze (they look and taste like refresher sweets) they are the only thing that took it away, and it's pretty instantaneous ! I gave this advice to someone else on the site and their pharmacist said gaviscon was the only safe ant-acid to take during pregnancy...this is rubbish, it says on the reverse of the packet, you can use it while pregnant and through breastfeeding ! and it tastes a damn site nicer than gaviscon !
Hope you start to feel a bit better(you can buy it in the supermarkets off the shelf)
Take care,
Caroline
