From my past experience you need a medical waiver. You can easily obtain it from your RE they're used to this situation. For the latest advisories go on the TSA website.

SD- I definitely want to know what you find out about traveling with needles. We are supposed to be taking a trip in April while I am in the 2ww if the RE says its ok. I always wondered how it works when you are traveling though because I will be on PIO and Lovenox.

You could pack them in the checked luggage in something safe from inspectors hands and inform them, too...but I'm not sure how hot it will get in the belly of the plane. I am pretty sure you can take them in your carry on too...diabetics have to as well. You can get a note...just in case...but as long as you have the medicine with the script label on it with the syringes...you should be fine. Have a wonderful trip.

Nurse has sent me a letter signed by RE giving me permission to travel with medicines, needles, syringes, etc. I checked the TSA website and it seems that as long as you declare it and have a script/your name on it you should be fine. She sent me the letter for extra security for me. I also think it varies from airport to airport as different ones have different securities. Has anyone found anything different? I really don't want to put in my checked luggage a)because of concern about temperature and b) fear of my bag getting lost! DH plans to call TSA to check.

Margi- Im so excited for you!!! I checked the TSA website yesterday and found the same thing. As long as you have everything labeled you should be fine. Im not going to check anything but maybe the sharps container and some extra syringes. All the stuff I need Im going to keep with me just in case they end up losing my luggage - which has happened to me before. Im sure if you have a written note along with your meds you should be fine. Best of luck!!!

Every airport may have their own rules, but I was shocked that they let me through without even blinking! No one checked my scripts, or asked for my doctor's note or anything. :? My meds were in a small cooler with syringes and all (I was afraid they might lose my checked bag. Didn't want to risk it.) Not even a question. Go figure! But I am glad I was prepared with my doctor's note and my scripts just in case.

Nicole: Have a FABULOUS time!! You deserve it!

Blair-thanks for the well wishes! I am pretty excited and hopeful.

Oh, well! Happy travels ladies!
