Genetic Testing

Post by TammyS »

Would anyone happen to know the insurance codes that go with these tests...so that I can see if they are covered by my insurance? I'm having a hard time finding out what they are and my insurance wants them in order to tell me if it is covered. Or does anyone know which ones are considered genetic tests and which ones arent? Or does anyone know the average cost of these tests out of pocket? Thanks for your help!

Nevermind. I actually had to call another IVF clinic at the suggestion of my insurance and they had a book and were able to give me all the codes. Sad, huh? My doc moved to this new clinic...to rebuild it...and they are just sooo messed up there. Looks like everything is covered after all...I was told originally that they werent by my insurance...surprise!!...they are. They only need a pre-auth. I called my nurse back and she says...we dont normally do that...but okay. Grrr!!

Tip for the future: If your insurance says it is not covered...call again and ask again. When one person says it is not...it just may be after all.

Tammy - I love to see you persevering on the insurance front! I get so frustrated & just give up half the time which I know is what they are counting on...so I will just break down & pay for it grumble grumble. We are still paying off two past surgeries one which was about 3 years ago! UGH gotta love insurance especially ours which is private so we get no breaks like someone with a group plan does...good luck to you......we had all the tests too and they all came back OK so I am praying yours do too, it doesn't give you any answers but it is at least one more check on the list of possible problems!

I can give some info on ACA. I had a positive on that test. However, many things can cause you to have raised antibodies. They redid the test and it was so high. However, just in case, my RE is having me be on blood thinners which is the "antidote" for that problem. Therefore, if it comes back positive, it may not be at all. You should be retested. But, even if it is a real positive, there is a way to help get around it. Good luck! :P

Mamaboo...I have been on 1 baby aspirin a day for a year now...for no reason other than just because it dont hurt anything and it might help. Are you saying that I should stop it to take the test...to get a true reading? I am not sure what you are saying. lol

I dont really need to be on it right now anyhow...since my next cycle wont be for 3-4 weeks from now.
