New to IVF lots of questions

Post by Kop80_uk »

Hello,

Just wanted to say hello as I'm new to this part of the forum...I'll fill you in on a bit of my history.

My DF and I have been trying to conceive for about 6 months. I miscarried last December (just after 4 weeks) and then became pregnant 8 weeks ago, unfortunately that ended as a ruptured ectopic at 6 weeks (I'm at home recovering as we speak), as a result I had my right tube removed. Whilst they were operating they noticed my left tube is also damaged and have suggested that IVF is the way forward once I fully recover. Naturally I was shocked as I never suspected that there would be a problem with my tubes and have never had any illnesses etc to damage them! I'm still trying to take everything in!

My DF and I have trawled the net trying to find as much information as we possibly can.

I'm 28 (nearly 29) and everything else is as far as im aware OK, my eggs and DF sperm are all good, we are hoping to get one treatment on the NHS and then if needs be go private for another.

We would like to hear similar stories to give us hope or prepare us for reality?
Also any experiences of centers and clinics in the Midlands?

Baby dust to all! xxx
Thanks

Kop80 – I am really sorry to hear what you have been through lately. I too have experienced two miscarriages, a stillbirth, and an ectopic pregnancy where I lost my right tube also. I know that you are in shock but take some time to research it and I truly believe that you will discover that it is not nearly as bad as you might think. I finally was able to have my daughter this past December after 10 ½ years of trying as you can read by my signature. After my ectopic pregnancy, I too learned that IVF would probably be the only way that I would get pregnant again, so I chose to look at it in a positive manner by saying to myself that at least I can still have a baby and carry him/her to term. There are several people in the world that can’t even afford IVF or had to have a total hysterectomy so having a baby would be impossible.

We are here to help you in anyway … if you need advice or support; you have come to the right place!
