Hi ladies - did any of you dealing with Male Factor was recommended a SCSA test? this is to assess the genetic quality of the sperm? my embryologist is sort of recommending it but my doc says its not worth it. i was wondering if anyone else has had experience with it?

Lyd10- We are dealing with MF and were advised by one MF Specialist to do SCSA, and we did. All the test did was confirm what we already knew. RE and Male fertility specilaist (second opinion) said that there was no need, because the solution with or without the test is the same-ICSI. Also, last cycle they did TESE on DH and we were successful in getting pregnant (unfortunately it was ectopic)
SCSA coasted us approx $500/600, if we had known the facts, we would not do it again. Hope this help.
All the best and loads of babydust!

We have pretty severe MF and our RE never mentioned it. When we asked about further testing/ supplements, etc the doc told us that those things could possibly b effective for someone with minimal issues, but that it would not make a difference for us. He told us from the beginning that our only option was IVF- ICSI. We tried fresh attempts 4 times before deciding to move on to donor embryos. I was able to get pregnant twice with DH's sperm but miscarried both times. I really beleive that it was the quality of our embryos and so does the RE. Good luck with your journey!
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!
