Hi Fruit--

There is no scientific evidence that bedrest helps the embies implant or stick. My RE doesn't recommend bed rest, just not elevating my heart rate, blood pressure, etc for 48 hours. Strict bed rest to me means just getting up to go to the bathroom and that's it. I don't think it makes a difference if you move around while in bed or get on a lap top. Today is 1dp5dt and I am already cooking for myself and taking a shower. I am not concerened, if they are meant to stick nothing will stop them!

My RE says no sitting up, but that you can lay in any position or prop your head up with a couple pillows. They also say no getting up other than to go to the restroom. Some RE's don't even perscribe bedrest!!! It is different at each clinic. Just do what you are comfortable with, and try to relax. Good luck to you!
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!

My RE also says no bed rest. She said it is good to move around to keep the blood flowing. But not to over do it, keep your heart rate down. She said to be a couch potato. I told her I wanted to go to the beach the day after ET and she thought it was a great idea. But you need to do what feels right to you.

Do not worry, I think that is the most important advice to give.

I had 2 embies transfered on the Monday, then off work for 2 days but no bed rest. Sex was even encouraged (ok no dangling from the chandeliers :-) ), so we did, enjoyed each other; did not think too much about the dreaded 2 weeks wait which was good after the long weeks of stim'.

Doing sport was ok as long as I didnt overdo it. I did rest when tired, had a lot of warm drinks like soup, tea (but the kind with no caffeine) and water, and always eat very sensibly and healthy, walked to keep energized for the 2 days at home. The first day back to work I was completely exhausted, because I could not rest when needed. I could not stand for more than 1 minute, even speaking was really hard, so I thought there is no way the embies are going to like this environment and manage to develop.

Result: BFP on the first try and we're now expecting twins :-)

Conclusion: do as you feel (as long as you keep it sensible of course), you have deserved to indulge after this long road.

Good luck to you, I hope you get a BFP very soon!!!
