On the day of egg retrieval

Post by ann d. »

So I have done IVF before and was have a DS. I'm trying again for #2 but have forgotten pretty much everything as far as what's involved with the process. On the day of ER, will I be able to visit a friend later that afternoon if it just involves sitting and visiting?? Or will I be too out of it to do this? I know it sounds like a trivial thing but it's been planned for forever and I didn't tell anyone that I was trying IVF again so I don't want to cancel or they will wonder why. My ER date was moved by a day at the last minute. I guess I can fake an illness. Anyway, what will I be able to do/or not do on day of ER??

Thanks for any help ladies!!

I had a rather rough ER so I was totally down the remainder of the day and a few of the next but other women report easy retrievals. I'm guessing that you won't really know until you are done.

i had 2 fairly easy ERs - so sitting and talking in the afternoon following the ER was definitely something that i could do.

I've always been okay the day of ER and back to work the next day . . . but I also hear horror stories from women who are in pain for days and days . . . just depends =(

Thank you ladies.

I didn't drive the day of ER and kept activity to a minimum. I did take Valium as I was feeling cramping and that seem to help a lot. Today is the day after and I only felt cramping when I got up from a nap. Been feeling fine since. Thanks again for sharing your experiences!
