I am new to this and have just yesterday started injecting Buserelin on my first IVF cycle! Due to work comitments I have been told that it is absolutely fine to stay on the Buserelin for over four weeks ( so as I don"t have a to have my eggs harvested on one specific day) without it having any affect on my treatment!! I am quite happy to cancel work and deal with the consequences later ! Has anyone got any experience of this?

You are apparently on the long agonist protocol. The vast majority of IVF cycles in the USA and Europe use that protocol. The Buserelin (a GnRH agonist) is used to prevent a premature LH surge. If there was a surge, it would not only be unpredictable (as you pointed out), but would also probably ruin your cycle.

Where are you from?
Yes, Buserelin is very much like Lupron. They are both GnRH agonists, and have the same effects and uses.
