DHEA? Everyone or Gost??

Hi everyone.......

I have a question to those who have used DHEA. Exactly how much? How long? and why? Ive had a low AFC and I guess a high fsh for my age? This cycle my Day 4 fsh was 6.7 and Estradiol was 40? I go for trial transfer tomorrow and to ckeck my afc I guess and see if I will start this month?

ANY INPUT would be great! Good results or bad...

There is a little evidence that DHEA improves follicular recruitment if taken for a long regimen (2-3 months) prior to the start of ovarian stimulation. There is better evidence for testosterone doing the same thing (and some DHEA is converted to testosterone).

The 2-3 month requirement is to get primordial follicles to become antral follicles, and that takes a long time. I don't know of any evidence that these help during the cycle.

There is also evidence that growth hormone improves egg quality.

Most clinics rarely or never use any of these, and those that do must warn patients about the risks. Ask your RE what he/she recommends.

Thank you for your input. Ive heard of many women on this board taking the DHEA but when I asked my coordinator if they recommend anything else for me to take there response is no. They said they are using the most aggresive protocol with me which is an estrogen priming/antagonist. This is suuposed to help me get the most eggs I can! My FSh was 6.7 on day 4 and the last cycle I did I had AFC to start with of 10 I think..maybe 8. ended up with 13 follies but only 7 eggs. Guess 7 is still good but from what I understand for my age I should have MANY more! I also had a bad fertilization rate with that cycle so Im very confused as to why this happened to us using ICSI and I dont feel that I get much feedback from the RE other than theres no exact science to it all. Couldve been a sperm issue or egg. They did AMH test and came back normal and they didnt suggest donor egg only donor sperm...IDK we have to more cycles to go on our own. I just want to be well educated!

One RE at my clinic is all for DHEA and my RE is on the fence ... i was taking 50 mg a day because 75 mg was h
giving me a headache... took it for about 6+ weeks... also taking coq10, wheatgrass, and l- arginine.... acupuncture too .... stopped dhea at stims, but continued with everything else... so far, I've had the best stim to date-- 17 follicles! i made sure I had my RE's blessing on my supplements... only negative about dhea were headaches and not knowing exactly how much dhea I was getting since it is not prescription... also taking a growth hormone... look into omnitrope and Coq10 if RE is against DHEA... good luck
