Loss due to candida glabrata

Post by Riverjay »

Does anyone have any information on this rarely documented cause of fetal loss in IVF?

AI just delivered 18 week triplet girls because of c glabrata infection. They were perfect and lived for an hour. I was very sick and am trying to learn how to prevent it in the future.

We are treating wih boric acid and nystatin. I think this may have come from fetal transfer and yeast overgrowth possibly due to progesterone suppository side effect.

Placental pathology was consistent with choriamnionitis wi c glabrata. Apparently of the ten or so known cases about half the women lost their uterus from complications.

My RE and my OB had never heard of ths infection. I cannot lose more children to this infection. I couldn't bear it. Any information would help. Thank you.

Hello Riverjay - I have not heard of this infection either but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of your triplets.
