IUI right after failed fresh IVF - could it be?anyone?Ghost?

Hi everyone,

so i had my ET on 23 july after a fresh IVF and got my BFN on august 2, AF came on august 4 and now after 13 days of my BFN, im thinking of doing a natural IUI (im not used to take a break from IF haha ) i went for an u/s today and there was one egg growing in there.
my question is: can i do an IUI right after an IVF cycle or should i wait more time ?
could this egg be empty or bad coz the previous cycle i did stim injections with all the ivf meds. etc... ??

If you are like me I would be always wondering what if? My doctor wanted to cancel my this cycle b/c he said this one is so risky but if you feel you are ready and willing to take the chance I say go for it. I don't want to give you false hope but I remember Anna over the Fall/Winter board who got pregnant b/c they had a good folli and decided to convert the IVF to an IUI. I know your question is more about how soon should you wait between cycles? What did your doctor say? If he gives you the ok, I say have them check your levels to see how your estrogen looks..Usually for one folli, it should be around 150. Also ask him if he thinks you need progesterone supp after the procedure. Sending you much baby dust my friend, certainly keep us posted! Christy

actually everything went fast, just yesterday i decided with DH that we wanna try an IUI this month before jumping to ivf again on september. i called my RE and he told me to go today for an u/s and he said if we wanna do it , it should be done on friday...
im not hoping a lot coz i know it is only one egg and we can't even know if it is empty or good... but i can't stay still, i feel like i have to try anything...

what is bothering me is that i dont know if "this egg" will be bad quality or empty bcoz of all the stim meds i took last month.
and i don't know if the endometrium is already "cured" and relaxed from all the stim meds and ER....

I would be the same way wandering if my body was prepared right after an IVF, but then again your body knows what it is capable of and it is capable of getting pregnant, More than anything I think it all starts with having the mind prepared, this is happening so quickly for you and dh and personally I think it's exciting giving you something to look forward to this Friday! You have nothing to loose, and everything to gain. It's tought to say how strong the embie is but you will never know if you don't try. I still think it's worth "a shot in the dark"!

I just got a call back from my clinic with some levels... my prolactin is good but my thyroid is at 3.5, she said it's considered a little high for them, they like to see it in the 2.5 range so on Friday they will be filling two blood tubes to check my thryoid to monitor it better. She said my doctor likes to see it in the normal before proceeding with anymore meds. Is there anything I can do at this point to regulate my thyroid naturally? I'm getting really worried that this is not good.

IUI is certainly possible. We usually like to see more 2 or 3 follicles, but it can work with one. Your follicle is probably not empty, but keep in mind almost half of all eggs are not genetically viable in young women. That's why we usually like to have 2 or 3 follicles.

Anna (annashope) just had a baby boy this week from an IUI after IVF. If I recall correctly, they went in for their WTF appt after a BFN and the u/s showed she was just about to ovulate. They did an IUI 'just because, why not' -- and now baby Paul has joined their family 9 months later.

Fruit Leora is absolutely correct last November DH and I went in for our WTF appt after a failed FET with 3 perfect blasts...we were so bummed out but really wanted to do something that month and could not afford to do another IVF right away so I asked my RE if he could do an "unmedicated IUI" the only thing we did was use the trigger but I was starting to ovulate on my own and I only had 1 follie....

Needless to say we got the greatest Christmas surprise ever a beta of 247 and now this little miracle is snuggled here in my arms.

Good luck to you. I truly believe sometimes less intervention is more. I have done previous iui's but all were bfn before this.

i did the natural IUI 2 weeks ago, i was supposed to get my AF today but it didnt show, when do u think the HPT will give a definite answer BFN/BFP ??? i think AF is maybe late coz i dont feel pregnant, could AF be late if i ovulated 14 days ago ???

Have you tried a hpt yet? lol I know the anxiety would kill me too!
