Hi
I posted on Monday regarding pain I was getting all round my right hand side pelvic bone. Tues and Wed it was just a constant dull thud, but on Thursday it was the worst ever and a friend had to take me into A and E. I was sick with the pain but the Dr was more interested in asking questions like: why did you have ivf? Are you with a partner? is he pleased with the pregnancy? as if I was doing something to harm me/them!!!
They let me go home in the evening but I had to go back for a scan Friday morning. When I went the scan showed the 2 babies (what a difference a week makes, got some photos) and quite a few follicles/cysts especially on the right hand side, nearly went through the roof when she scanned over there. The nurse had a look at the scans then rang for the gynae, he came and said he wanted to admit me. I went to the maternity ward and came out yesterday.

The pain was indescribable, they gave me injections of pethadine and I feel so guilty although they said it was to early to do anything to the babies and I was causing more problems in the state I was in.

The pain is still there on a rolling scale of 1 - 10, from about 3 to 10. They couldn't say that it was definately ohss and I still feel that it is my bone from my groin to the middle of my back on the right hand side that is so painful.

Sorry this has turned into an essay but just wondered has anybody else had these pains? Or any idea what they could be and will they stop.
Have spent 7 years trying to be pregnant and was so pleased to eventually get a positive result. Now feel so bad that I can't cope with it.

Thanks for listening
Love Lisa x
(twins 8 weeks 5 days)

Hi Lisa

I am sorry you have had such a bad time of it. I had terrible sharp pains on my right side and I thought I had a cyst on my ovary. I was admitted for 2 days and put on a drip and had scans although I was very early PG even the scan showed nothing not even a sack. I was told that the pains were because my ovaries were still very large (about the size of large oranges) and were still twinging and twanging from all the hormones flying around my body. I found the pain was excruciating when I needed a wee! I still get bad abdo pains when I need a wee or no2's (sorry).

I really understand what you mean about spending so long wishing to get pregnant and then feel really down when you are because of the pain and the worry. I felt exactly like you. Also all the drugs they gave me when I was in hospital again for 2 1/2 weeks I felt really guilty and that my baby was being hurt. But the doctors and nurses wont give you anything that is not good for a PG woman.

I am now 13wks 5d's pg and am a bit more relaxed but it never really stops. I hope your pain starts to go soon and that you can start to enjoy being pg.

Take care love Dagny x

Hi Phil and Dagny

thanks so much for your replies. Dagny when did your pain start to cease or is it still as bad? Did you have Pethadine injections?

Have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow so will discuss it with her.

Thanks again
Take care with your pregnancies

Love Lisa xx
Hi Lisa

I do still get pains occasionally which I don't know what they are. Like I said it's usually when I need the toilet but sometimes I just have the odd sharp pain low down. They didn't give me pethadine as I am allergic to it but they did want to give it to me. I had morphine instead. Then they put me on a course of anti-biotics as they thought I might have an infection. The anti-biotics made me really sick though.

Good luck with your midwife appointment. Let me know how you get on.

Love Dagny x

Thanks again and Hi Gila and Vicki

I have been to see my midwife but she wouldn,t make any comments except to tell me to go back into hospital when the pain becomes severe. Just filled in forms and discussed more injections because of my blood group - at least they don't start until 26 weeks!!

I have lost a stone but today has been my best day so far, even managed some sleep last night and food today, so hopefully on the mend.

Love Lisa xx
