simple ovulating question - I've never done this 'normally'!

Post by leorira11 »

Ghost (and everyone else) -

my beta is finally zero two weeks after a surgical hysteroscopy to remove some retained miscarriage tissue.

I had an u/s and some bloodwork today to see if I should start my Provera to get a period to start a new fresh cycle. I'm anovulatory PCOS (with OUT polycystic ovaries, just the hormonal symptoms) and our IVF/ICSI is because of severe MFI. To everyone's amazement -- I'm ovulating! Weird! I've NEVER EVER ovulated on my own (only with Clomid), not even after pregnancies and a miscarriage.

I was told NOT to do the Provera, and that I should get a period in about 2 weeks. (No chance of spontaneous pregnancy -- DH's sperm count is waaaayyyyy too low -- 14 swimmers at the last ER)

I'm worried I won't get a period in 2 weeks -- if I don't get a period then, I'll have to push off my cycle until after Passover, which I really don't want to do.

I said I was nervous about not getting a period and they said to come back in a week to make sure ovulation occurred.

I've never gotten a period regularly.

Any reason to talk about taking progesterone (Provera or regular progesterone suppositories) to guarantee I'll get a period in 2 weeks?

Basically -- Does ovulating (as seen on u/s) guarantee getting a period about 2 weeks later?

thanks!

I know I should just relax and "let go", but I'm trying to figure out when I can start again!

dang leorira should i say when it rains it pours for you or what? anyway that is good that your beta is zero. You should have asked to do an iui on the spot. you remember on our old board the girl that went in for the wtf appt after a failed ivf and when they did the sns she was ovulating. she did an iui that day and ended up pregnant? hey you never know your lucky star
as for your question, most of the time after ovulation normally one gets a period. good luck and lovely photos of your trip.snowwhite still follows you till i see the good news at the end of the tunnel..

In infertility patients, nothing can be guaranteed. But the normal expectation is a period in about 2 weeks.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

Ghost - thanks for your answer.

My new RE feels the same way -- no way to know. So he said that I can either wait for a period, or take Provera now to guarantee I get a period in about 2 weeks... but if I take the Provera, I'm ensuring that I won't get pregnant spontaneously -- which is fine. DH's sperm count is so low, that wasn't possible anyway!

So I ovulated yesterday (I think) and I'll start the Provera tomorrow. Make sense?
