Ghost - question about when to start Decapeptyl (Lupron)

Post by leorira11 »

Ghost - I've always done antagonist cycles, but after dismal results in 2 of my last 3 cycles (only 1-2 of more than 10 mature eggs fertilized - both BFN cycles), my doctor asked if I wanted to mix things up and do a long agonist cycle instead.

He prescribed Decapeptyl (like Lupron as far as I can tell) to take for 10 days before I go for a baseline and start stims. We didn't set a start date, because DH and I are going on vacation.

I want to start the Decapeptyl immediately upon returning from our cruise in Europe ( ) on Feb 3rd.

As far as I understand, most people start Lupron on day 21 of their cycle. The important thing is to start after ovulation.

I have PCOS and nearly never ovulate on my own (it's happened once or twice, but I'm not expecting it to happen now). If I don't have a regular cycle, when should I start the Decapeptyl? I just go for a baseline when I want to start and if all is quiet, I start the Decapeptyl? My RE also gave me a rx for Provera to get a period. Should I take that now, so I get a period now and CD21 will be when we get back from our trip? Or is the Provera to give me a period after I've started the Decapeptyl?

Thanks for any help!

Hello again!

I cannot tell you what to do, or give you instructions. That must come from your physician. I prefer to provide information. For example, you are correct that Decapeptyl is much like Lupron. Both are GnRH agonists. Decapeptyl is usually called triptorelin, and is commonly used in Europe.

My best guess is that your RE intends your first option, but again, that must come from him/her. I get surprised sometimes.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

thanks :D

I just kept reading about it being important to start Lupron/Decapeptyl after ovulation, and was wondering how the fact that I don't ovulate fits into that! Of course, I will call my doctor and clarify.

this website has gotten a little dead, but we have a fun Facebook group -- if you want to join, let me know
