Where to start after IVF recommendation?
At 39 I just learned that my tubes are blocked. My doctor is ready to resort to IVF and we're ready to do all in our power to conceive. Where do we begin with questions, information, expections, money, feelings?

This is a very difficult time when you are told this and I hope you get what we all have strived for on this site. You would be better off posting on the general forum as that's where everyone having treatment posts. Where will you be having your treatment?
In answer to some of your questions:
Money- find out whether your NHS hospital will pay for your treatment. Some areas you can have 1 upto 3 or 4 attempts. Mine paid for 2.
See if your doctor will fund some of the costs for the drugs etc. If you shop around you can get good deals on drugs. Organon/Calea are very reasonable. 3p left a post on the general forum about this and there are lots of numbers on that thread to contact them.
Information- Your doctor should give you any info or numbers for you to ring. The internet is full of relevent info as you may have noticed.
Feelings- Your doctor should be able to put you in touch with a councellor to talk about what is happening. Your local hospital or fertility clinic should have a councellor too.
Us girls on this forum will try to answer anything you need to know too. Just post on the General Forum.

one good thing is u sound positive and prepared to give it ago.
it is a very emotional road u are taking but if u are like all the
girls on this sight, "determined" u can get thru it.
IVF sounds very daunting but i felt once i had read as much info
as i could find it all becomes quite clear.
i joined this sight in nov and have found it wonderful for asking
questions/support and especially when u are feeling low.
one thing ill say do not be put off with the "u are 39 and your
chances are a lot less" obviously u need to know the stats etc
but i had 4 ICI treatements last year and had a postive on
my last treatment dec and i had just turned 43 !!!
I must admit both my DP and myself cut out the drink, and on last
treatment i had a hair analysis and started taking supplements
and also started visiting an accupuncutrist.
