New to IVF. Hello everyone!!

Post by Hopeful215mom »

Hello everyone,
My name is Tiffany and I am a 33 year old female living in the USA. My husband and I are currently in the beginning stages of our IVF. So far I have gotten all of my labs, GYM exams and HSG test. The reason why we have to seek IVF is because my husband is a paraplegic T12 so he does not produce sperm like normal men do ( it does not come out). So we have to go in and get it and that's why we need IVF. I am aware of IUI, but we rather go straight for the big guns and do IVF. I have an 8 years old daughter from a previous marriage and she was conceived the old fashion way. My husband also has a 19 year old daughter, which he had before his injury. So hello to all, and I look forward to getting to share stories with everyone.

Its good that you and your husband had children before. But as you said your husband has low sperm count now and you are perfectly fine. I my opinion you must try IUI first because it costs less and had good success rate. If you are healthy and physically fit, then you can conceive very easily. IUI is as much effective as IVF but the only risk is multiple pregnancies. If you are fine with one or more children then this may not be problem for you. The goal of IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increase the chance of fertilization. The success of IUI depends on several factors. If a couple has the IUI procedure performed each month, success rates may reach as high as 20% per cycle depending on variables such as female age and the reason for infertility, and whether fertility drugs were used. So, try IUI first. Hope it helps you. Good luck.

Sperm donation is the good option when the man presents problems with sperm quality, a genetic disease or abnormality, or after undergoing cancer treatments that could lead to a considerable reduction of the chances for natural pregnancy. In this sense, the main advantage of sperm donation is that it increases the success rates of an IVF cycle. One of my friends also got the IVF from the clinic that is biotexcom which was successful. Hope you also get the positive results as my friend.Wishing you luck in the journey of IVF.

Daizy4727 - in case when sperm quality is the issue, IVF PGS NGS might also be a solution.
