Hello Alisonn (the cat lover!!!)

You would need to check with your pharmacist whether it was ok to take in early stages of pg but I've taken senokot (natural herbal remedy) and also something called lactulose (sugary medicine). Both made me go big time.

Tracey Sharp is usually good for things like this - she is always talking shite - ha ha. (ts - this is a joke, honest!)

It is remarks like that can really upset me N - especially with my history of colon problems!!!!!!! Boo hoo.
Alison I tend to have the opposite problem as have ulcerative colitis which is a vile disease but gradually touch wood am going the constipated way especially yesterday.
A few things as I have colon specialists and they talk of nothing else but how to make you go when you can't and the other way around.....try drinking plenty and make some of this citrus juices - if this upsets you dilute them. The best thing is prune juice - not much good if you dont' like! Try plenty of fruit and also the actimels work well - don't think you will be leaping around but the benefits of them are still coming out so to speak - they do give you wind but don't worry about that if it eases the problem - tesco's own work just as well.
See how you get on - good luck.

Hi, try a day or two each week without meat, swap the meat for a fibre rich legume/pulse eg. chickpea curry, lentil-anything coupled with lots and lots of water should help. I also find eating fresh dates late in the evening has the desired effect the following morning.

Good luck,
Debra.

I told you TS knew about such things!

alisonn I wouldn't worry about the 'wind' youll get lots of this even when you're not constipated!

I hope you are feeling better, there is nothing worse than needing a good no.2!

I find a few pints of guiness and a curry always works for me, but I guess this isn't appropriate at the moment.......

It's all fine in moderation N as you know.
I have my twins book today and it talks about shellfish in there - being good for you - no mention of not eating it - shall I bring prawns around on Saturday?

Longingly thought of me hey Nikola - do you mean this or longingly looked at the sandwiches and thought of me - sure you would rather have a prawn sandwich - rather that than you think I look like a prawn or something.
If you really want one - just ask your specialist next time and see what they say - M&S prawn sandwich is hardly likely to do anything - or any more than one of their chicken ones or egg and cress! I mean can you imagine it if there was a problem!
Just me then eating prawns full of zinc - before you all go off one one I do not eat raw oysters and have steered clear of mussels and cockles etc.
Mind you judging my the amount of you not having sex - the majority I reckon then not much going on in the cockle department there either.
Alison how is the problem?

Hi Alison

I have had this problem for weeks and have tried most things i have asked lots of people for suggestions here are some
licorise (has helped but addicted to it now)
a warm glass of water in the morning before anything else (made me sick)
bowl of porridge with syrup (don,t like syrup)
drink plenty of water (we all do that already)
fibre, brown bread, all bran things like that
i try to have a glass of orange juice in the morning
i also when i feel i need to go walking around helps
my gp gave me lactulose which is the safest thing to use

I don,t want to sound horrible but don,t try to have a no 2 if your not ready it causes piles (which i have too).
I get a sore stomach if its been days and a bit blotted.

Hello Alisonn (cat lover)

I would eat lots of pears as that does it for me! Prune juice too but that has already been suggested.

Tracey and Nikola, you have turned this board into the 'Nik and Trace' show. You crazy girls!

Have I made the top ten posters yet???

Its only because nobody else was around to talk to so we just kept posting silly messages to each other. Tracey can't bear the thought I might actually catch up to her on the top ten posters.....the doors open now Shell is tied up with Alex Mitchell!

We'll get Traci to do a new list!!

We don't mean to monopolise the boards - sorry!!

The daft thing is we email each other about 10 times a day and speak to each other on the phone too - which is why we never have anything interesting left to say on here so we just talk bollox.

Helen - you sound like you've had it all - piles and constipation - poor you! I think the advice about walking is a good one though. I've been quite lucky and I have poo problems all the time (even when not pg!), I think a lot is down to regular exercise. It gets things moving!

My dh swears by a strong cup of coffee and a Marlboro Light...........but we sensible girls will stick to the prune juice!!!
