My Fundus!!!

Post by Nikola »

Hello All

I had a visit to the midwife this morning to listent to the babies and check my pee etc... all seems to be fine. She measured my fundus and it was 34cm - does anyone else have fundus readings they would like to share???

Wibbs, Val, Di, Jackie T???? Will you compare your fundus with mine!!!

How do you know its the equivalent of 34 weeks? bloomin heck that makes me feel even bigger than I already did. I've had lots of lower adominal type pains yesterday and today, midwife reckons babies might be heading south..............they can't come yet! I'm not ready, my bloody Mountain Buggy hasn't turned up and I haven't painted the nursery!!!!!

I know because my midwife told me that it is 1 cm for every week - or as near as damn it!
Yikes like you say - they might be heading south but that does not mean they are coming (you must understand I am an expert in these matters - NOT!) Remember Shell and her baby heading south - she went weeks over - not that this will happen to you N but try and get as much rest as possible

Fundus you say !!!!!!...

Sorry for being AWOL, been on some R & R with dh..very nice too!! :?

Spent last Friday in hospital due to baby not moving for over a day VERY UNUSAL so was put on a monitor for 2 hours, heartbeat was strong and regular, and even after a hot cup of tea and a KIT KAT (yummy) still no movement, so was sent home and told to go back by midnight if no movement.. , but by the time time we got home it was doing the congo...
I was asked how many weeks so I said 24/25, but in her hotiy totiy voice, My Dear you are much more than that????....patronising cow I informed her that I know when the embies were put back so there! nur nur nur nur nur.......
Anyway all is well and babys fine,
Nikola in answer to your fundus question, when I saw the midwife at 23 weeks she said I was 26cm, but I dont see her untill the 6th March so will have to wait and see. :o
Gald you and TS had a great weekend, you will be friends for life and it will be nice that your kids will grow up together. :P

I'm still catching up with al the news I've missed and i am in shock  over Dagney's news, I can not imagine how she is feeling at this time, to have to make that decision.......it's bad enought like TS said to have the option taken from you..let alone have to make it, I do hope and prey for a little mirical will happen for them.......made me cry   .

Hope you are resting, I'm getting uncomfortable now, but feel I should not moan about the situation. After what we have all been through to get here I should be happy about having my bladder used as a trampoline and cronic heartburn and cant breath.....and and and .ect..

Anyway I'm off to do pancakes to cheer me up...will catch up later, have you heard from Val??????

hi Wibbs

I wondered where you'd been! I'm glad you are back! Everyone will have to stop going awol (including Val!) cos its sends me off into a panic.....especially after Dagny's tragic news. Cried? I haven't stopped. Its really really upset me. I can't imagine how she must be feeling. Its just not fair.

You sound like you've had your fair share of worries too. Its awful if you don't feel them move. Chocolate and iced water usually wakes my two up.....they are never short on chocolate!!! Also I find they wake up when I'm in the bath - they have a good kick around then too.

As for your fundus......I looked through my notes at 22 weeks I was 28cm - so we must be nearly the same size! Which would suggest you are having one big baby!!!

6th March is a Saturday - do you see your midwife at the w/e? I'm next at the hospital for another growth scan on the 8th March - so hopefully we can compare new measurements!!

Don't go awol again!!!

Kat - I have to say I thought it was one of those cheap frozen pancakes that I used to have for me tea in the Old Days! Do they still make them? Quite revolting, I'm sure. We would never give our kids that food now - I wouldn't even feed it to Arthur and Jeremy!!

The fundus (she says sounding so important cos she actually knows something sensible!!) is your big fat belly......basically! They measure from the pubic bone to the top of the bump - just under your bra strap. Its a more scientific approach to the toilet roll measuring that we do.

Tracey S told me that for every cm its on average a weeks gestation......this means that I'm either:

(a) having two big babies
(b) i'm a fat b*st*rd
(c) all of the above!!!!

I'm 26 weeks and I measure the equivalent of a singleton at 34 weeks!

Does this make sense?

I'm not good at answering 'proper' questions.....I should stick to the pancakes!! Talking of which I ate zillions last night...........yum yum!

Wibbs

Welcome back - stop giving us a scare - especially at the moment - Dagny news has sent me off on one of my flaps - bad enough waiting for my scan and flapping but now with that news brings it all back............
Wow who is a big girl then - sounds like N said like a big one. Well done you and keep safe
N - no pancakes for me - did not get to M&S (lazy I know) and had no eggs and was puppy class - boo hoo
You are not a fat BD - you are normal size for your twin pg!
Kat - N was right about a fundus - pancakes indeed - thought she meant Findus fishgingers - oops won't go there - you will soon know what it is like to have a fundus - mind you had one before pg!!!!
Love to all

Hi Di

that has a nice rhyming sound - infact bet you are sick of it - sorry!
Glad you are well - re the flashy bits baby - probably a boy - I mean don't see us running around in cold weather with nothing on under a flasher mac!!!! My thoughts on turning and you have to appreciate I have not gone through it myself! My friend as I told you had this - she said was uncomfortable but not painful if that makes any sense and miles better than a sooty or sweep whatever we are calling them. She was at 38 weeks and he was a big boy - big bones with a huge head and an even bigger bum (not just girls have these it appears!) so they tried to move him on a couple of visits - the first couple of times - he would not shift and then obviously got the hump and he moved which meant she avoided the C-section which she did not want.
Go for it I reckon (like I said what do I know?) and see what happens

thanks tracey i will have a think and see what doc says monday
sometimes i think babes must be comfy as its been in same position for 2half months so why upset baby if he is nice and comfy but as im on my own i dont really want c.section becuase you cant lift things and push pram for 4-6 weeks

anyway ill think about it

are you going to find out the sex of your twins or are you having a surprise?

Diane

Hadn't realised you were on your own - totally understand what you mean about c-section and lifting etc. You would need all the help you can get - if you live anywhere near me I will help!
As for me - yes we are going to ask the sex at 20 weeks - after Oliver and what happened last time we would like to do the extra bonding - probably makes no sense at all........... but we would like to know. In the meantime having a flap about the 16/17 week scan which is a week tomorrow - I really don't do scans at all well.
Hope all goes well at the docs - my friends one did not move either - lazy git but then he is lovely and slept through the night almost from the beginning - you never know your luck!

Hi
I'm really worried about my fundus!!!!!!!
I got dh to measure me last night and it was 36cm!!! I'm 31 wk and 2 days!!! I hope he had the tapemeasure upside down otherwise I may be v early. We measured from the top of my pubic bone to where my bump finished (under my boobs) - did we do this wrong.....

Diane - my sis had a c-section and she says if she has another she's definitely opting for the too posh to push route again. This time she had to have a section cos baby was breech but she says she'd rather having this than suffer with piles!!! She said she was told just to take things a bit easier.

luv
Bertie x
