32wk checkup

Post by bertie »

Hiya all

Well I'm all confused and a likkle bit panicky. I've been to the hosi for a routine checkup this morning and they've picked up sugar in my urine so now I have to go for a glucose test on Wednesday morning. Also baby is big for dates (she measured my fundus at 35cm), so I have to go for a scan on Monday morning. I said 'if its big will they induce me' and she said no - so now I am worried that I may have a c-section.
Also, I had a tiny bit of spotting over the weekend which I thought may have been a show - I also had pains. She checked my cervix and said it is perfectly closed and said that the spotting is due to the fact that my womb is low down (apparently this is common in pregnancy).
I'm all at 6's and 7's. I had loads of bleeding until about 19wk and then it all seemed to be going ok but now I'm a bit panicky again. :?
To top it all off my husband has just had a double hernia op and is acting like a bloody invalid!!!!!!!

Try not to worry (says me!!!!???????) For a start get DH sorted - double hernia - might have a treble if he's not up and about - you need your rest.
I am sure the glucose is nothing to worry about - at worst it is diabetes but not likely but you will soon know and this can be managed. Your cervix is closed so no problems there - baby is not on way yet. You are a decent size but not overly so and she has said you are def not having c section - they will monitor it. I think you can stop worrying for the moment and rest - see what the urine comes back as and then take it from there.
Secondly you have fought hard for this baby - try and think of the fact that you need to be as safe as possible for you both ok?
Take care

Thanks girls
Sorry to sound like a moaner.
Tracey - if dh isnt careful he'll get more than a hernia! Midwife said that quite a lot of ladies grab their mans testicles whilst in labour!!!! I may start with some practice!!!!
I think its cos its so close that I am worrying that something might go wrong now. I was fine this morning until hosi started with this test and that test.
I'll try to calm down a bit - off home now for a sit down and a cuppa. Off to Breastfeeding at Parentcraft tonight so that will take my mind off things for a bit.

Hi Bertie,

Your post reminded me so much of myself when I was pregnant. I had to be kept a close eye on because they said I was having a big baby and measuring more then I should be. I did have to have a c section in the end (don't mean to scare you) but my baby was so comfy inside he didn't want to come out. The C section wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, I had no choice this is the only way Alex was coming out, I had 4 gels and it just didn't work for me, but they was right Alex was big he was born 11lb 5oz. He is due to be weighed again on Wednesday so can't wait to find out what he is, he was weighed 2 weeks ago and he was 12lb so I wonder how much he as put on.

You did make me laugh saying about grabbing your DH testicles ha ha still laughing now.

Love
Shell.

Hi Bertie -

Don't worry about glucose etc - my sis had that and the next test was fine. They also said her baby was too small - and he ended up not being.... I know it's hard not to worry, but stay positive and take it easy, at least you know they'll keep a good eye on you.

If worst comes to worst....(and it won't, cervix is closed), you are 33 weeks, and eveything'll be fine if something was to happen - I'm proof of that, as Sam was born at 33 weeks and is now asleep happily in the next room!!!!

Hope all goes well

Hiya everyone
Thanks for the reassurance - I dont feel as bad today.
Been for my glucose test - it took 5 attempts to get a vein and then they ended up getting blood from the back of my hands!!!!!
I said if it would make it easier that I'd slit a main artery - she didnt find this very funny.
Anyway, they will ring if theres owt to report. If they dont ring it means my sugar is fine. I have to go for my scan on Monday so either way I will know on Monday.
I'll keep you posted.
