Funding is approved!

Post by LindaJane »

Letter from hospital today........our NHS funding has been approved and our appointment is next Thursday - OMG! We only applied in January, never expected it back so soon......................

What should I expect from the first appointment (we've had all the first lot of tests already)? What do I need to ask?

Now I am rather scared...........................but at least it means that I am not a total fraud viewing this site now!

Cheers

Hi,
Welcome to the beginnings of an ivf cycle. I hope everything goes well, and that your first treatment is succesful. ivf is not as bad as we guys can sometimes portray on this site. I have 4 and a half days to go before I do my pregnancy test and this has been my first ivf. I have survived, even laughed at times, and if this go doesn't work I'll be straight back up for another go I am sure.

Our story went like this.
After being told by the consultant (after all the tests and laparoscopy) that we needed ivf our next appointment was with the fertility nurses at the clinic. We went through the ins and outs of ivf, what we should expect etc, the drugs etc.
We had to fill in all the consent forms. 1) goes to GP to see if you are fit to be parents. Then the others are legal forms about consent to use the sperm and egss, and embryos. This was all done in that first session.
We had to have the hepatitis and hiv blood tests and rubella for me.
We then put our names down for the next cycle. This depended on when my period came. The next time I saw the clinic was when I started the drugs.
I started the drugs on January 25th and here I am with less than a week to go.

Hope this helps.

Hi LindaJane

This is such good news for you. I have not been on this site for a couple of weeks but saw your post tonight. You are in really good hands, the CRM were brilliant with us.

You will have a counselling session soon and then they will get you started as soon as possible after that, if we had been able to go ahead last March (it was postponed until October due to further tests) it would have been about 17 days between counselling and starting to sniff.

Good luck

Jackie

Thanks for all your support. I am a little calmer about the thought of the appointment.

Angela - I will be at the CRM in Coventry, same as Jackie S who tells me they are wonderful.

I would hope to start so I can relax in school hols being a teacher to reduce the stress so perhaps July might be good for me too! We shall wait and see.

Love
