Does anyone know anything about gestational diabetes?
I had my glucose test last week and today I have found out that I have diabetes. I went for a scan cos they thought babe was big but apparently he's about normal - he has a big stomach though but apparently this is cos of the diabetes.
I am very upset cos just for once we thought everything was going smoothly and now its doing a turn around. I bled up until about 19wk and since then everythings been fine - no protein, bp ok etc etc. And now this. This also means I cant have a waterbirth or a 'midwife led' birth. I will have to be monitored all the time in labour.
I feel like I am being selfish, especially with what has been happening on the board recently, I know that as long as everything is ok then thats what matters. I'm just worried that things are now going wrong.
Can someone please give me a kick up the backside!!!!!!!!!

Age 32, DH 36.
TTC 7 yrs.
Baby Phoebe Jessie was born 26/03/04 - 5 week early and utterly gorgeous!!
bend over - one big kick - oh infact another coming your way
I know how you must feel -well I don't but know how silly I get - keep being convinced the twins aren't moving and my bump is shrinking again when I read bad news! Daft after what has happened to Dagny and Caroline (oh and me last year with Oliver!!!) but you will worry and feel selfish. Of course you wanted it all to be perfect and now it isn't quite as planned. Now just jolly well have a moan today and move on to how you are going to have the baby and how wonderful it will be.
I think I hve had more friends with diabetes in pg than not! Annoying and one had diabetes from when she was 9 so all the way through and v serious. Not so serious in pg as will go away and they do monitor you carefully to check growth etc and you are ok. I know you won't get your water birth and I am sorry but look at it this way - this is probably as bad as it will get with you (until the birth! and the nappies!) so please try and not worry. This is not a sign that everything is going wrong just something we can get in pg - the amount of choccie I eat each day and I mean each day means I will probably get it!
Big hug ok and hope the kick hurt!

I've just got a few more people to moan at and then I will probably have it out of my system.
I do feel stupid posting stuff like this though especially after Dagny and Carolines recent news, and also you with Oliver. I remember the day I read your post - I couldnt read the screen.

Sorry I can't help with the diabetes - I only know it will go away. As for the birth - I know you're disappointed, but look on it as a good thing in terms of think of the people who will be monitoring and looking after you...can only be a good thing.
