HELLO,HOW LONG DO YOU HAVE TO CONTINUE WITH THE PESSARIES AFTER TESTING POSITIVE,THE NURSE DID SAY ON THE PHONE AND I THOUGHT SHE SAID 18 WEEKS BUT NOT SURE,I WAS TOO EXITED AT THE TIME.I DONT REALLY WANT TO BOTHER THE CLINIC AGAIN,
THANKS.LOOPY
loopy, it depends on how much of your own progesterone you're producing. if like me it's low then possibly for the first 3 mths or so. if like some of the other girls it's at normal levels then usually just the 1st few weeks. i know from checking with my dr that using it is not harmful at all, but neccesary if needed. you'll need to check with the clinic.
Loopy, I was told to carry on using them until the 6 week scan confirmed everything was OK. Despite our current confusion, I'm still on them.
Having said that, I've read someone on the other side who said she had to continue for 12 weeks....I guess it's highly individual. Sod not bothering the clinic, call!
The consultant said that once you are pregnant you are producing your own hormones anyway, so although the pessaries aren't doing much at that stage, they give people reassurance, so I think i carried on for 6 weeks post transfer.

Hi Loopy,
Hope your ok, i've been told to use pessaries up until 10wks. when i'm 8wks i can cut down to 1 a day for a wk then do 1 every other day till the 10thwk. yippi then i can stop them.
hope this helps but phone you clinic.
Every clinic seems to have different advice on this. Mine said to finish my packet after gettiing the positive result - which was enough for about 3 extra days. They claimed I should be producing enough after a positive & it made no difference..
Phone your clinic to set your mind at rest though. Take it easy...
