Nervous... First appt tomorrow

Post by Rhonda Richards »

Hello there

Well it's my first specialist appt tomorrow and I feel ever so nervous

Butterflies keep coming in my stomach when I think about it, I think it's because I don't know what to expect. I've spoken to a friend who had her appt a few months ago and apparently they are very thorough; blood test, internals etc. I don't mind that it's the not knowing what they will say 'i.e. go away and try to loose more weight or go away and try this blaa blaa'.

I'm sorry I've gone on, needed to get it off my chest. ++++ vibes from you all will make me feel so so much better,

Thanks
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda

I don't think we have spoken much before but I just want to wish you loads of luck for your appointment tomorrow. It is such a nervous time when you don't know what to expect but I am sure it wll be fine and you will come away feeling much more positive.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Love Dagny xx

Rhonda, best wishes for your appointment tomorrow.
it will be fine, at least you'll get to hear what they have to say and what your options are. are you going with dh? if yes, then maybe you could ask him to think about what questions you both want answered when there to take some pressure off. when we went i did a lot of the talking but it was great when i could signal to david (dh) to take over.

let us know how it goes,

Good luck for tomorrow. We were both nervous about our appointment last week. We had a list of questions that helped us ensure that we got all the info we needed. The whole thing took 2 hours but it is good to talk through everything, after all its a major thing. I did feel that DP was left out a bit though, but he thought it was OK.

I've got myself a file to keep everything in and made copious notes on other stuff - it made me feel in "control"! :D

I am sure you will find everyone very supportive.

Best wishes
Love

Hi Rhonda, good luck for tomorrow. I think Linda-Jane's suggestion of taking notes is excellent. I wish I'd stopped the consultant at times and asked him to clarify something again. Writing notes is an easy way of asking them to repeat themselves which buys you time to think of Q. plus for Dh to butt in etc.

We'll be thinking of you.
love
Debra.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your support and advice. The appt went well, I was poked and prodded and all dignatey was left at the door. I gave the specialist the letters, results etc I had from our last try five years back. And the gynae back then suggested I go on 'gonadotrophin ovulation induction' which seems like a problem over here in Germany; because of funding, oh yes I know that lovely word we all hear......

I have to phone d1 of my next AF and will have to have day5 blood tests, as the specialist is Germany she never said what these bloods are; anyone an idea I thought maybe FSH, LH??

Thanks guys
Rhonda

Hi there

Glad it went well and that you can get going on treatment. Not sure what your blood tests are for, sorry. More likely to see what your hormone levels are.

Good luck

Rhonda

glad it all went well - they can be nerve wracking - you then look back and think "why did I make a fuss" - especially when compared to nerves on the 2ww (two week wait!!!)

Good luck - I assume the day 5 blood tests are FSH - they like to take these between days 2 and 6
