problems with sniffing

Post by Tania »

Can anyone tell me if they have had times when they are not sure if the stuff from the Synarel has squirted properly up their nose or not? Sometimes it is obvious and I can taste that horrible taste but sometimes I am not sure.

Also I am a bit worried because i am at my sister's in Brighton at the moment and on Friday night I suddenly ran out and realised I had left the others in London. luckily my DP brought some on Saturday so i only missed one sniff. Could this be a problem. But now I am worrying that it had run out a few days before that without me realising, which would mean it hasn't worked properly.

I have a scan on Tuesday morning and I am having visions of going in there and nothing has changed when they do my scan because I haven't been sniffing properly
Any advice??

Hi Tania,
Not sure if this helps but I also had several times when I thought id not sueezed the bottle properly and wasnt sure that id got any. I actually re- did it once and then paniced id overdosed!! The long and short of it is I did down reg at the expected rate and so for me the few blips (possible missed doses) didnt seem to make a difference. Can you ring your clinic if you are still panicing? theyd probably put your mind at rest
good luck love Annie

Hi Tania

I agree with Annie, I don't think the odd blip will make much difference. I sniffed Synerel on my first 2 treatments and quite often I felt it hadn't gone in properly. In fact my 2nd treatment I had a terrible cold and blocked nose and I didn't think ANYTHING had gone in but the scans showed I had down regged just fine.

When I started the Puregon injections on my 1st treatment I was sure I wasn't doing it properly and was in in right panic and on my first scan my ovaries were like melons (no joke)! Then I got OHSS!

My 3rd treatment I injected Buserelin instead of sniffing which I much prefered as you don't taste it!!!!!

I would ring your clinic though if you are still worried. Good luck :)

I too used to really get stressed with the sniffing. Always thought I hadn't sniffed it properly. I also reckon its your hormones and stress levels thinking that it had all gone a few days ago. i bet it hadn't. The sniffing stage is a stage of paranoia. Basically I was on Buserilin and the bottle lasts about 2 1/2 weeks, so not sure whether this is the same for you. I know how you must be feeling ..... but don't worry, it will all be alright.
Good luck for your cycle.
