Just got a positive!

Post by ydgg »

I'm a 39 yr young female diagnosed with PCO a yr ago. 4 months of Clomid resulted in nothing but bad pms symptoms.

My RE recommended injections due to my age. Our first cycle (3x 100 units of gonal, then 4x 150 units) stimulated 7 mature follicles plus some smaller ones. The RE prescribed only half the HCG shot 2 weeks ago.

I just got a positive confirmation of pg with bloodwork and HPT this morning. I'm in shock, as nothing else has worked! Next tuesday (april 20th) more bloodwork is scheduled.

Is anyone else in the same situation? I'm experiencing extreme bloating, sore breasts and a very stuffed feeling. Does this discomfort go away?

Also, when is progesterone support begun (to avoid miscarriage) ? Is the first scan 6-10 weeks?

Thanks in advance,

Yvonne

hi yvonne,

congratulations! and what a fantastic shock for you!

progesterone is usually prescribed by the clinic and normally starts straight away. it is needed to support the embryo/fetus until the placenta takes over, however we do produce it naturally (except some women like me do have problems with producing the right levels). you should check with your clinic today if you can.

the 1st scan in the uk is usually two weeks after a positive result, which is within about the 6-8 wk period.

the bloating and soreness you mentioned could be caused by the drugs but it is very normal to feel this anyway in early pregnancy. your insides will be going through significant changes in the 1st weeks/months for the 1st time ever. the rise in hormones may make you feel sick a little later on too.

best wishes for the 20th, take care.

Whay good news to read. Congratulations!!!! :D

Don't worry about the bloating etc - it's perfectly normal, especially around the time of your period and the discomfort is only just beginning. LOL, but you'll love it :D :D

I took nothing after my + was confirmed - I just finished the couple of days of pessaries I had left - all clinics are different and you should start producing it yourself anyway.

Take care and enjoy!!!!

Hi Yvonne

Well done :D and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Good luck for your scan. I hope you start to feel a bit more comfortable soon. The bloating will go only to be replaced by a lovely baby

Enjoy
