first scan

Post by ydgg »

:D Fertility sisters  ,

I just had my 7 week u/s and sure enough, a tiny blip indicated a healthy heartbeat. What a relief! We rescan in a month and start all the prenatal work soon - its so exciting. At this point, due to good hormonal levels and no bleeding, the RE said chances of m/c are down to only 10%.

We are still in shock and awe at the power and marvels of modern medicine!

A little background:
-dx pco 1 yr ago + laparoscopy, started 1500 metformin (cycles still 5-7 weeks long, ovulation ?)
-began clomid october 2003 up to 4 months 100mg (no luck conceiving, but did ovulate)
-jan started acupuncture (cycles start to normalize) and naturopathic sessions (homeopathy and vitamin supplements)
- march 25 started first gonal injections (100 for 3 days, then 150 for 4 days)
- 7 large follicles (plus many cysts) mature, half hcg shot april 1st (to prevent multiple pregnancy) cancelled IUI (natural intercourse 4 days in a row)
- 2 weeks later positive hpt and bloodwork (ovarian hyperstimulation for 3 weeks - yuck!)
- finally a heartbeat on todays scan!

My dh and weren't expecting such luck on the first try (he has low motility), and with me being 39 and PCO.

The due date is dec 23rd - what a crazy xmas we'll have.

So the moral of the story is that miracles do happen (and when you least expect them)!

Yvonne
