Oestrogen Levels

I am on day 6 of stims and after each blood test have been told that my oestrogen level is low. Today they have said it is about half what it should be. I am due to have a scan on Thursday which will determine whether or not I can continue with this cycle. Feeling really really down - I didn't really contemplate there being a problem at this stage (this is my 2nd go at icsi and 1st time round there were no problems like this). Has anyone else been through a similar thing and will it affect any future cycles??

Hi Julie I had a similar situation with the down regging stage. My oestrogen level was too high and refused to come down. I was down regging for about 9 weeks in all but the thing they kept telling me was that in the end the drugs would win. The other thing they tell you is no two cycles are the same and just because you have a blip this time doesn't mean it will be the same next time (if you need one). I'm sure they have a back-up plan...increasing your dosage maybe? I know how frustrating it can be though, you don't expect there to be a problem so early on do you but I'm sure it will be fine. The levels can jump around REALLY quickly when they decide to move. Hang in there !!!!!!

Hi Julie, Just to let you know that my oestrogen levels have been frequently lower than they should have been on a particular day in both my ICSI cycles and neither of my cycles were cancelled. My levels did seem to shoot up unexpectedly and I might have been on higher stim doses for longer than most (was on 450iu for about 8/10 days before dose reduced). I've never produced massive amounts of eggs, and no frosties, but had 2 embies put back each time - you only need one for a +ve. Can't say yet that I've definitely succeeded (until 7 week scan next monday) but hoping this will put your mind at rest that it isn't over for you.
