frozen embryo transfer

Post by sunshine70 »

I have 3 frozen embryos, frozen since 1997. In 1997 I did IVF and got 5 decent quality embryos and had 2 embryo's implanted and got TWINS! Now I really reeeeeeaaaally want another. I have 3 frozen embryos. Can anyone tell me what my chances of success are with frozen / thawed embryos is? I really need to know.

Reason for my post is........... I have an overwelming feeling of doubt about my potential to get pregnant. After 5 ectopics. And even after my first attempt at IVF worked using fresh embryo's. I feel like that was just LUCK. It's not very fun having so much doubt. I know I can get pregnant, my many ectopics confirmed that. And I Know that I was able to carry and give birth to full term twins upon 1st attempt at IVF. But now that I am faced with FROZEN /THAWED EMBRYOS...... I feel like I couldn't be so lucky the second time around.

BTW: my 3 remaining embryos were frozen at 6 cells. and rated as decent quality.

Wonder how many will survive the thaw........are frozen weaker than fresh?...Should I have 2 transfered again and risk twins?.....or is transfering ONE good enough.

Anyways.....look forward to hearing some feedback. Thanks!

to do or not to do

Sunshine,

I suppose there is a few things going on here, it worked for you before so it can happen.
,at my clinic there i about a 10% difference in the chances of sucess once you get to ET stage from the Embies depending if they are fresh or frozen maybe ask the clinic what theirs is.

You should also ask yourself what would cause the most heartache
1. trying with 2 embies and getting another set of twins :D :D .
2. trying with one embie at a time and seeing if it worked before going on to the next stage??

As it would not be a whole cycle there would not be as much drugs etc for the frozen cycle. I would seriously suggest that you make contact with the clinic counsellor over this one its not something that you can decide like that everyone would have a different answer.

Good luck with your decision. and you know what it worked for you before you have your lovely twins to prove it. What does your DH think?
