Post by Kat »

Hi, thanks for the message, thought I'd reply on a new thread... I am fine, reading most of the postings most of the time, and laughing and crying along with the rest of you, but generally feeling out of touch I suppose though I'm sure once I start tmt again I'll be up there with everyone else and get to know all the new people. Have been to the clinic this afternoon and will start another cycle (no. 6) probably mid-July (doesn't seem a year since I was a JCB before). I have started trying to eat organic food where poss and generally be more healthy, I am cycling or running (slow jog more like) most evenings after work especially when it's sunny, so hopefully that might have some effect and if I can't get pg at least I can have a (reasonably) nice figure again and be fitter. Regards Alfie - well I think there may well be more problems coming along!
Take care & 'speak' soon

Hi Kat

Glad to see you are posting a bit more. If my hospital keep farting around with start dates we may well be cycling together in July. I have been waiting to find out if we get funding again but to be honest it's not an issue - at the moment at least. My AF is due around the 14th June and I feel like it's on it's way already. I haven't even got the prescription for the drugs yet  I am starting to get a bit frustrated as it's been 2 months since they said they would find out just by sending a letter - I mean how long does that take????? Hon-est-lyyyyyyy!!!!!

Sorry, I have gone on a bit of a bender just then :?

It's great that you have been getting yourself in shape for your next treatment - Wow the 6th!! This one will be my 4th fresh one. Have you had any FET's? I am so crossing everything for you and pray to God you get that BFP that you so deserve.

Now you try to hang onto Alfie you here!! Nana and Spence will be so sad if you two break up!!

You said in another post that you went to school in Sutton - which one? I was born in West Ewell and moved to Cheam. I went to junior school in Cheam village and senior school in Banstead. I grew up trawaling Sutton with my 'mates' on a Saturday, pretending to study for my O'Levels in Sutton Library  The fact that I did so crap in my O'Levels proves it was definitely pretending!! Did you live in Sutton or just go to school there?

Take care.

Hi - I went to Sutton High the one with the lovely lilac blazers. It has taken me a long time to wear lilac again. We used to go to Sutton Library to have a fag... I grew up in Ashtead so used to get the train to Sutton for school. I worked in Allders for a bit (when it was up the top of the high street not in the St Nicholas Centre where it is now) so I too have frequented a selection of pubs in the area. I live in Chessington now, so not far from my roots.
Re tmt, my cycles have never been very good, no 1 was cancelled due to poor response, no 2 was cancelled due to DH breaking his neck, no 3 last July I got one egg which did fertilise and got transferred but -ve, no 4 last Sept I got 4 eggs and 2 survived to be put back but -ve again. No. 5 was cancelled due to poor response again. Never enough for frosties. So depending on how you look at it, this is no 6 or no 3. Third time lucky maybe. Let's hope so and hope you get the +ve you so deserve too. It would be nice to be cycle buddies again, on current workings out (although af never comes when I expect) I should start injections mid July. I'll keep you posted...
Take care

OMG Kat

I used to work in Allders too!!! The old one not the jazzy new one. I worked in the Perfumery Department and had a ball. We had such a laugh and the management were Nazi's!! I hated the Personel Manager with a vengeance. Which Dept did you work in? I featured in Mr Bean - The Department Store episode! They did the filming right by my Georgio Beverly Hills counter  I have got it on video and watch it from time to time to have a laugh. My uniform was so rank  I worked in James Walkers jewellers, Terry's jewellers and Pizza Hut in Sutton as well. I was an Air Hostess as well  Such a laugh.

I know loads of girls who went to Sutton High - How old are you? I failed the entrance exam for Sutton High  The uniform was a HORRIFIC colour!!!! I was going to go to Parsons Mead in Ashtead but the journey would have been a nightmare from Cheam.

I have just been told I can start this month - Yipppppeeeeeee. You will start your cycle at the tail end of mine if all goes to plan :?

We must compare notes on where we used to hang out and people we might know!! Hee hee. Do you remember the 123 Cinema in Sutton where Legends nightclub is now? What a dive??

Speak soon

Hi, it's a VERY small world! Glad to hear you are starting again, I'll be keeping my eye on you closely.
Right - I am 39 in July & did O levels 1981. I think I'm older than you or is that just because I am feeling old? I have just watched your Mr Bean experience (yes, I too have the video) - which one are you???
I worked in Allders from Sept 1986 to Jan 1987 for a leather concession next to Carvela on the boutique floor, which by the time Mr Bean was filmed (89/90?) would have been over the road in what is now the Moon on the Water or something (or at least it was last time I saw it, could have changed by now). If we were there at the same time I probably sprayed on loads of your testers!
Don't know what you mean about a horrific colour uniform - it was LOVELY ha ha - so lovely in fact that it put me off wearing lilac for at least 10 years after I left school
And I spent many a night in the 123- do you remember they just used to run the films on a loop and you could get in at the end of the one before and then watch it all the way through again?
This is weird! Maybe we know lots of people the other knows, if not me then I had 2 sisters at Sutton High so I bet between the three of us we know someone that you do.
Give me names.... personal msg or email if you prefer
Oops, just noticed the time - need to go to bed especially as I have streaming hayfever and should be resting!
speak soon
lots of love

Hi Kat

 I do remember the cinema running films on a loop now you come to mention it - How funny. I went there on my first date and can't for the life of me remember what film it was as I spent the whole film wondering if he was ging to hold my hand or kiss me!! :? I sat there rigid and feeling sick  What a div??? He was FIT though :D

I am 36 in a few weeks, so a little younger than you. I worked in Allders in 1989 - 1990 ish. I can't remember. I am the one in Mr Bean wearing a black skirt and a yellow and white striped blouse - Georgio really knew how to dress their staff, NOT!! I am standing in the middle between my counter and Charles of the Ritz and Revlon counters. I am rocking back and forth trying to look cool and pretending to talk whilst holding a tester bottle. You have to look quickly as it's over in about 3 seconds  They did about 20 takes but it was great fun. Rowan Atkinson is a very strange man in real life but he did chat to me in between takes as he started from my counter each time.

Anyone want my autograph??????

Did you like Mr Killoran, Store Director? We (the Perfumery girls) had to do corporate golf days at Banstead Golf club. We were given dresses to wear by the ladies fashions dept, wore more makeup than was physically possible and we had to wear Allders sashes and chat to loads of Directors and bods from other companies as well as walk round the golf course with them and look pretty - How sexist? But at the time we loved it as we got to drink all the bubbly and dress up and have a right laugh. Mr K was always so lovely to us at the time then back at work he turned into Mr Killer again (obviously his nick name)!

I bet I am boring everyone on the board who is reading this but it's MY thread!!! So ner

I will try to think of some people you might know and send you a PM or email. Is your email address on your profile? If not mine is so if you send one to me I can reply.

I think we may well be boring everyone to tears as no one has joined in, not even Tracey! I've just been and watched the video again - nice 80's styling girl! ....the Giorgio outfit was been better than one of the Allders uniforms though! Luckily I could wear my own clothes....
I don't remember Mr Killoran though - I'm sure I would have done because if he was nicknamed Mr Killer it would have stuck in my mind because it is very similar to my name now, although I only started going out with Rick (DH) during the time I was at Allders (after I had a very short-lived thing with a boy in soft furnishings...!)
My email should be on my profile - I have just tried to copy this message over so I could send it to your email instead but it wouldn't let me for some reason...
Even if you are a bit younger than me I may well know some of the names of the people you know - I have a sister 2 years younger than me so much nearer your age. Sooty (the cat) has just jumped on my keyboard I am having difficulty typing so I have to go and feed her before she attacks me...speak soon

Ooooh Kat

I had a message from 2 Kat/cat's

I had to wear the Allders uniform for a bit too when I first started. Was yours a blue skirt with a white blouse with little blue polka dots?? Delightful

Yep I am ashamed I had some outrageous 80's hair styles  much like my DH's highlighted mullet he had when we first met in '83

I saw you had youe email address on your profile so I will email you tomorrow morning.

Take care

Kat/Dagny...I was waiting to jump in at the first mention of Streatham, Croydon or any of my old stamping grouds. I'm EVEN older that you two, born in 64, but went to St. Martin's in Tulse Hill (dodgy brown pinafores and a nasty corduroy Donny Osmond style cap) from 74-81. I worked in Croydon's Miss Selfridge for a couple of years (80-82) and before that...Streatham Woolworth's Deli counter - yep, that dates me really and truly, who else remembers Woolies even having a deli counter? I used to wear Rimmel's Black Tulip nail varnish and it used to get in the food -----euuuuw!

I love remembering the 80s although because DF is much younger, I get ALOT of stick for my poodle perms, Blamange record collection, Madonna 'Like A Virgin' jewelry phase and being a soulgirl, complete with pussycat bow shirts, pleated skirts and patent shoes. I was a Cat's Whiskers devotee and sometimes Cinderella's in Purley......ooh what dives!

Thank you for giving me an excuse to indulge!
love
Debra.

OMG Debra - the Cat's Whiskers AND Cinderellas!!!! I had forgotten them! We may have been in there at the same time! I was most likely in an off the shoulder stretch jersey mini dress (classy bird, I was!) with black patent stilettos which had a silver bit up the back (sadly I still have them, but only as I loved them so much I can't throw them away, I DO NOT wear them now) Was Miss S downstairs in the corner of the Whitgift?
Tracey thanks for what you said, that was really kind (the bit about wishing us luck not the bit about talking drivel)
If any of you have the Mr Bean video have a look for Dagny....tee hee
Lots of love,

Kat, Debra, Tracey

Sorry I haven't got round to emailing you yet  I have been off the computer for a bit to get through this weekend.

I remember Miss Selfidge in Croydon and it was on the left in the corner of the Whitgift center.

Cinderellas!!!!!! Many a drunken night in there I can tell you! Do you know Sinatras? Anyone can pull in there even if you look like Gollum from Lord of the Rings!!!

Deli counter in Woolies???? Hmmmmmm :? I would keep that one under your hat Debra

* NEWS FLASH *

Emma has been turfed out of the Big Brother house after a 50k pay off from BB and she can't sue them. I think BB has gone too far this time. The mix was too diverse and now it's all going horribly wrong. I wonder what will happen next??? A murder??

Is everyone OK today??
