Another Mum To Be........

Post by slymunchkin3 »

Hello everyone,

Hope you don't mind me joining you over on this side. I am a bit nervous about it, but had EC & ET same day as Shellie so here I am. After a very emotional week, 3 negative hpts, 1 positive & bloods to confirm, I am pregnant. We couldn't believe it when we phoned the hospital for the results & the nurse said congratulations. She also said that I had a strong hcg level of 1475, that is 3 weeks after ET.

I am feeling really good. Just the usual aches like backache & extremley sore, larger boobs ( which I am pleased about ). I am going to the clinic tomorrow for a scan & another blood test. Don't think we will see anything in the scan though, will we?
I also have to continue with the pessaries until week 12. Does everyone have to do this?

Sorry about all the questions. We, just like Shellie, feel so lucky as this is our first attempt at IVF.
So glad to be joining you all & DH is over the moon. Keeps telling me to relax & put my feet up, which I am not very good at.

Heres wishing us all parents to be all the luck in the world! :)

Congrats!!! I left you a message on the other side - just goes to show with these hpt's. You will see somethign on the scan - not sure how far you will be but should see the gestational sac and if lucky a hearbeat - oh and a yolk sac - in your case maybe two!!!

Re the pessaries - yep my clinic were 12 wks merchants - now on 9 wks - everyone is different - they made me feel yucky and then I worried when I first stopped taking them - and there is me taking the mickey out of the others - the voice of reason and calm these days! All your symptoms are normal - rest when you can and eat little bits all the time and drink loads

Congratulations, and well done for making the leap to this side. Carry on taking the pessaries for as long as they say-i think they help you think you are doing all you can to make the embryo strong.
Although i don't practise what i preach, try and enjoy every moment of it! I am 30+4 weeks now and feel and as the time has raced by because i've spent a lot of time worrying and not that much enjoying it. It still seems odd to me to think that my babies (yes i'm in the twins club) could make their entrance any time! We are ready with all the things, but it seems unbeleiveable that it will happen.

Good luck at the scan, take care, helen :D

WOW congratulations!! So excited for you!
I think your scan is at 5 weeks? Might be alittle early for a heart beat - usually its 50-50 at 6 weeks. But you'll love it anyway!
I am on pessaries for 12 weeks - assuming I get there!

Be prepared for things to start kicking in about week 6ish. Tiredness/ nausea/ weird food aversions. O on the other hand maybe nothing at all if you're lucky!
O I had the boobs and bloated tummy immedately though!! And I have just realised that I can't blame the embie as my protruding tummy is above where it is - O dear!!

Join us on the just here thread :D

Well done on jumping across Christina. I am so excited for you. It is great because we should be giong through the same things at the same time. I am sooo jelous that you are having a scan already. I want one to. I have to wait another two weeks for mine. My clinic scans at 7 weeks. I don't think it will really sink in until I can see something in there.

I have been posting on the just here thread. Join us there, great advice is given. Are you back at work? I worked a 11 hour day today, too much but hard to cut back. I am soo tired, I want an afternoon nap each day.

Anyway congratulations again and let us know how the scan goes and what you can see.

Best of Luck

Welcome Christina

Congratulations. I had my first scan at 6 weeks and 1 day and saw the sac but it was too early to see the heartbeat which threw me into a major panic. The next six days were agony but then I could see it clearly. I wish I hadn't had the first scan now as it caused too much agonising. So, bear this in mind if you can't see your heartbeatsssssss.

Good luck.

Love Fiona

Hi Christina

Congratulations on your +ve. It is such a wonderful feeling.
I had a scan i think about 4 weeks and it depends on how high your levels are, i had a blood test first to see if they were high enough. I did see a heartbeat and sac but everyone is different i had a scan 2 wks later as well.
i had to use pessaries until 12 wks too. It gets a bit annoying near the end but worth it.

Enjoy being pg
