Post embryo transfer

Post by marydemo »

Hello,
Just did an IVF embryo transfer; and have a question for other IVFers.
During the transfer I was asked to have a full bladder. After the transfer - I went to the bathroom for urination after about half an hour (30 minutes) after the transfer was done.
Now I am worried - could this have caused the embryos to fall-off?
What do you all have to say? Other women who have done IVF - how much time did you wait after your embryo transfer procedure before going to bathroom for urniation?

I am so worried!

Please respond.
Thanks

Don't worry

Post by loddiedoddie »

I wondered the same thing after my first IVF, and my doctor reassured me that it was OK to urinate after the 1/2 hour. I have realized that worrying about the little aspects of this large ordeal can make you crazy. Think positive thoughts and do the things that make you feel comfortable. If you feel like it is something that you may look back upon to blame yourself, don't do it.

Good luck!

Hiya

I had a pee straight away (in the transfer room's toilet) and asked the consultant if it was OK - they told me of course it was OK! It should make no difference how long after you have e/t that you go to the toilet.

Hope this helps

You must realy not worry, after my 4th attempt i went to the loo
straight away and got my positive, i must admit i felt exactly the
same as you after my first attempt, but was reasured by the
doctor that is has no effect, just think to yourself the little embies
our safely tuck up there, try and keep positive over the next 2 wks.

 Hi Marydemo

You and so many others have had the same worries.

I was convinced on my 2nd ET that I had pee'd them straight out. I was so desparate that I had to go within about 5 mins of them going in. I spoke to the embryologist and she decribed it like this - Imagine a pot of honey with a pea in the middle, now try and shake the pea out, it won't! Your uterus has so many bumps and grooves that the embies just can't come out. It was a negative on the 2nd but it did make me more relaxed for my 3rd ET and that did work.

Try not to worry and visualise those embies embedding in a nice warm enviroment. Good luck.
