My hospital won't let me start with this AF :(

Post by Dolly »

I am so cross. My hospital have just rung me to say that they think it is too early after my ectopic to start treatment - they want me to wait for another AF.

After my first ep - we had a meeting with the consultant who told me it was fine to start treatment after the first AF - but it was our first cycle and we decided to wait 6 months to see if we could do it again naturally. So why is this time different.... I just don't get it....... I have asked them to double check with the Consultant and ring me back. But I just know they are going to say no. I have got a meeting with the Consultant on 16th - so even if they won't let me start I'll be giving them a good grilling.

I seem to spend my life waiting .................. I just want to get on with it. They also said it would be too stressful to start an ivf cycle so soon - but I find waiting around more stressful.

I am so sorry to rant on - but it has made me so cross. I am going to go home and sulk!

A very down Dolly

Oh dolly what on earth is happening on this board today.
I had the same and threw my toys out the pram and asked them why - they said the same thing - stress etc until I explained it is more stressful to wait.......... They let me go.
If there is a physical reason then they should tell you but at the end of the day explain to them that the mental reasons are for you to decide on and see what they say.

Hope you get your own way and shall be thinking of you - am most worried about you and DAgny now!
Love

Oh Dolly

I am really sorry you have been told this. How frustrating.

We are both going through a load of poo right now. I hope you are allowed to get going soon and they don't make you wait much longer.

This is only a quick reply as I haven't been able to log on for a few day and have so much catching up to do and I still have to go shopping for DH's birthday pressie for tomorrow.

Speak later

Hi girls, I really don't believe it..... NOW THEY SAY I CAN START - BUT THEY WOULD RECOMMEND I WAIT!

Now I don't know what to do... :?

Dagny, pleased to see you managed to get back on board. I really wish you all the best and hope that you are feeling ok. Do you know when you EC will be yet. Take care of yourself.

At least you have the choice which is better than not - hard though it is! Have you asked them why they recommend exactly for you to wait. I have read that there can be an increased risk of m/c if you start too soon after m/c but yours was natural ectopic so cant' be a drug issue etc.

I went on my 2nd AF after losing Oliver at 20 wks and look at me know. If mentally you can take it which I believe and there is no huge risk to your health go for it! If you were trying naturally you would be up for it anyway wouldn't you so what is the difference......... I am curious as to their advice.
No help at all sorry but best of luck

Hi Dolly

Well there's a turn up for the books! Now you have the decision to make yourself and I expect you can't decide now. Like TS has said your last ectopic was a natural one so there were no drugs in your body so I shouldn't see why you can't go asap.

There is always a risk of m/c if you do it too soon and I suppose you have to weigh up the pros and cons before you make the decision.

I still don't know when my EC will be as levels are still a bit high.

Hope you don't get too stressed about what to do.

Dolly

I agree with the others, but have to say that I think sometimes these clinics forget that we are actual living people - not just statistics. There were times when we felt very patronised and my DH really got p*&&$d off with them at one point, he felt that they take advantage of people in a very vunerable position who are so desperate for a baby that they will do anything they say.

Good luck with what ever you decide - knowing why they would not recommed tmt until next month might help and in the grand scheme of things you have to weigh up what difference 1 month will make
