Hi Roopa

Just thought I would mention it to you to post over on the General Forum as there are more girls having all sorts of different treatment there and from all over the UK. I am from the South so can't answer your question but come over to the GF.

Hi Roopa,

I can advice you on the hospital to use in Birmingham. It is called the Priory. If you go onto the general forum a lady called Nolan uses the Priory so you could contact her.

There is a hospital in the coventry area also it is called the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS.

I don't know about general costs, it will depend what you want or need doing. I have been in touch with both of these hospitals about egg sharing ( with me being the donor) and the costs for both are around £500.

Good luck x

I'm not sure about clinics in that area but do know that the costs can vary enormously. If you have good medical cover you may be lucky - although I would be surprised if any medical insurance would cough up for this (mine certainly won't)! I've recently had an IVF round and including the drugs it cost just under £5000. It does depend on the cost of the drugs and the doses you are on. The clinics should be able to give you a basic cost of the treatment but in Cardiff they seem reluctant to say how much it will all cost in total as the amount of drugs can vary from appointment to appointment.
Hope this helps
Best of luck with your treatment anyway

Love

Roopa. I moved from the UK 6 years ago so am a little out of touch with clinics but the HFEA (regulatory body for fertility in the UK) www.hfea.gov.uk list clinics on their website.

Re. insurance. Most Brits don't have medical insurance as the majority of our medical care is free. Many medical insurance policies are taken out by companies to cover their employees being able to jump the queues for public hospitals/specialists or to have the choice of which hospital and when to have tmt. Existing conditions are very, very rarely covered and fertility treatment almost never (or at least I've never heard of it). The costs Debbie quoted seem about average, perhaps 4-5000 + drugs??? There are schemes to offer women who meet certain criteria (age etc) one free ivf tmt by the local health authorities but the waiting lists are long, and judging by some comments on the board, if your local medical authority can't afford this, you're out of luck.

Good luck,
Debra

Hi There,

Just to let you know I live about 30 mins from B'ham if that and I used Aldridge Fertility Clinic I had 1 attempt at ICSI and it worked for us it cost us £3000 privately just over. You can also use the World Women Clinic in B'ham which also does it, hope this helps.

Good Luck.
