For those of us ONLy just in the 2nd trimester

Post by bina »

Hi everyone,
Well - got bored of having to scroll through the endless thread - so here we are!
Gem- can't believe we'll be 16 weeks (4 MONTHS!!!) this week! When everyone said to us time will pass so quickly I always thought 'yeah, well that's allright for you to say...'. Anyway, isn't it great?
Tracey, please stay with us for your valuable advice! We're not any less worried, just have bigger tums and hence even BIGGER worries...!
Caz - hope you're having a great holiday!
Fiona - any news?

Well, not much to report myself. Went to see my GP last week after my disastrous midwife appointment at the hosp. She (the GP that is) was very understanding and reassuring and suggested I attend her antenatal clinic in-between the hospital appointment, so that's the plan. Going to see her next week for BP measure, urine, heartbeat check, etc. So that makes me feel a whole lot better. The it's another 5-week-wait until my 21-week scan (they couldn't fit me in at 20 weeks). Oh, got the 2nd blood test this week as well, so should hear about the Down's risk by the end of the week....fingers crossed!
Went to the gym today for the 1st time in 4 months (used to go 3-4 times a weeks regularly and always wore myself out, but stopped just before the treatment and then got too scared to pick it up again -plus, feeling quite sick and stuff so not really in the modd). Just did stretching (always used to ignore it previously, but it's not about just me anymore, is it?), then 15 mins on the bike and 15 mins on the treadmill, plus more stretching. According to the machine I only lost about 100 calories..! Never mind, I feel a lot better fot it, more energetic, yet relaxed. So hope to keep it up gently for a few months...!
How's everyone else doing?
Gem - hope Skegness was sunny indeed!
Lots of love to everyone,
bina

Just popped in - well done you to set this up - the others have been most useless I must say!

And great news that something has improved with the gp's suggestions - really a good measure I feel. The exercise will do you the world of good it really will for so many reasons.
Will try and hang around as long as possible but 36.2wks now!

Bina- SO pleased you ahve found a good gp. We are STILL no further on and still have no idea where I'm going to have this baby!! My Mum rang up 3 times this morning to find out whats going on!!! it really did kick start a good old stress session. Anyway my DH is "taking control" and so hopefully things might get moving. Didnt realise that EVRYONE seems to have such a strong opinion on EVRYTHING
"O you cant go to that hospital, my sister went there and her arms/ legs / whatever dropped off"
"O you can go there its got the super bug"

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Anyway - okay really  , DH calmed me down by taking me out for such a huge lunch that I couldn't move!

Suddenly - eating SOOOOO much. I find when I'm eating I can't stop and then afterwards I just feel SOOOOO full its unbelievable!.
From feeling so sick in first trimester, didn't put on any weight and it seems that in the last 2 weeks I have put on all my first trimester weight gain !!
I dont mind at all really - REALLY want to strat looking pregnant though as opposed to just fat!

Has anyone bought maternity clothes yet?? When did you experts go out and get some. I feel like 14 weeks is a bit early - I mean these alot of changing shape to do yet?!?! BUT I CAN only get into a VERY small % of my wardrobe now!! :)

You know - I still have to pinch myself that I'm even in the position as ask these questions. :D . Amazing innit?

Hey - who is planning on finding out the sex of their baby? Any instincts yet ? I just KNOW mines a boy (all being well!)

Off to watch Corrie

Hello lovelies!
Gem - if you are craving sweet things - that means a girl doesn't it?!
Ordered some jeans from top shop today -so well see how those turn out. Wore a dress today -that I think I looked very PG in!! Someone at work congratualted me and said he could see I was pregnant - but couldn't tell that the girl who sits next to me (whos 20 weeks!!) was. THANKS ALOT MATE!!!!!!
Actually I dont really mind :-)

A question.....
Has anyone been offered more bloods at 16 weeks- whats all this about the AFP tests (for downs syndrome and spina bifida apparently) - I thought I'd gone through all that with the nuchal scan and bloods (for PApp A and HCG) at 12 weeks. Any advice?? Did you guys have/ or having this??

Thanks!!!!

All well? Tracey - are you in labour yet - VERY exciting!!!!

Caz

Nice to know someone noticed you are pg - that means she must look pg all the time  Is she fat or just not able to notice? I always wanted a bump.
Your nuchal and bloods should have covered most of it - I was not offered but then twins there is no point as not accurate. Did you ask them why? and what extra they would tell you - if not I would do so and probably skip them as nuchal and bloods more accurate.

Hi mums-to-be!

Gem - I've got a really sweet tooth as well! Gone off anything healthy really. AND am still suffering from morning sickness, so finding that a bit hard to still manage. But there you go! Rather have it than not being pg - any time!

Caz - yes, I did have a second blood test this week (16 weeks) as part of my integrated scan. The first one I had with the nuchal translucency scan at week 12. So with this second blood they can see the development and it gives them a clearer idea re Downs and spina bifida, etc. That is why up until now I don't know anything about my actual personal risk of any of these conditions (apart from the neck fold looking normal, nothing to worry about). Does that help at all? At my hosp they call it 'integrated' or 'tri-test' (or something along the lines), because it combines three things: scan, 1st blood, 2nd blood.

Re: boy or girl, I'm convinced it's a girl, without any actual reason for this....we'll find out at th 20-week scan and let you know.

Yes, maternity clothes have come into our house - only trousers though; some Blooming Marvellous jeans and a couple of Mothercare work-trousers. They are sooo much more comfortable than my own clothes and in the Blooming Marvellous shop they have an extra cushion which represents 12 weeks, so you stuff that in front of you to check the torusers are going to last another while. The things you find out about, eh???

Anyway, got really trouble sleeping lately - twitchy legs, feeling uncomfortable, etc....so probably going to bed a 6pm tonight....poor DH...!

Hope all is well - we're off to 'oop North' to see the in-laws in Yorkshire; Gem, that's your area, isn't it?

Tracey - still with us? Hope to catch up with all of you week after next.
Love,

Bina - I'm still having moments of sickness- generlaly about 10 in the morning -I think its when I'm hungry (like ALWAYS!!)
I feel and look, SO fat!! DESPERATE to look pregnant - but just feel like everyone is looking at me and thinking -"Wow shes really packing!!"
O well!! Not sure theres alot I can do about it really
Ordered some maternity clothes off La redoute - which look okay - but who know what they'll be like when they turn up! Bought some Ultra low cut jeans in big sizze from gap - so MAYBE these will last me a bit too! All other trousers now no longer able to do up buttons! And weirdly they are tighter around my arse and legs - I mean WHAT is that about ?!?!
Boobs also GIGANTIC - measuring 4inches bigger than they were before i was PG - and they weren't small before!

Thanks for so much feedback on 16 week scans - going to see new doctor on Tuesday (hopefully the ONE!!) at St marys in London. I'll see what he says about the 16 week scan. Rang the fetal medicine centre were I had nucal and bloods and they said dont bother.

just srating to get a bit twitchy about the 20 week scan - don't know what I'd do if they found out anything badly wrong and keep flicking onto wondering if theres any greater chance of abnormalities because of ICSI. Still not alot I can do about that now!

HOw is everyone doing? Gem - you are SO far along now!! :D
Bina- I am convinced I'm having a boy! Dont know why either!

Tracey -time is near - cant WAIT!! Hee hee, bet you can!

Hi guys
Bina sorry you are still being sick I have never had any even though I wished for it at 1st,I cant wait to feel the baby for the 1st time my midwife said it could be any tim efrom now and 20 wks-Tracey when did you 1st feel the twins??? Where up north are you going?
And Tracey we dont all speak like that
Caz sorry to hear you are also being sick in the mornings.
I have finally finished work for 6weeks as I work at a school its now the summer term yipeeeeeeeeeeee We have got soem new children in our class nxt term as the head teacher as changed everything and now teh children are now in year groups rather then ability ages so we have a two day taster on thurs and fri and it was awful so I'm dreading going back allready I was in tears last night and didnt know why could only think it was work dh was worried but I said its my hormones and I'm just tearful today I'm going to try and not think about it as I have only 3months left when I go back in sept in my new class there are some behavioural children so I'm watching myself and trying to stay out of the way but its so hard as I'm used to getting stuck in and controling the children but I darent now incase I get hurt.Anyway enough of my work situation.
My other news is I got a letter from the hosp on weds saying tehy had found somthing in my urine it was only minor but needed treatment so could I go to my gp for treatment My appointment was 30th June so they havent rushed sending me the letter as it was 3 weeks later anyway I went to drs and after tehy had phoned hosp to check tablets were safe to take when pg I 'm on 1 tablet 4 times a day for 3 days they said it was a e-coli infection also is it normal to start getting swelled ankles at 16weeks as when I cam eout of drs I noticed my ankles were swelled I had been on my feet all day and it was warm but then I started worrying about pre-eclampsia as I'm too early to start getting that as if It gets severe they get the baby out so I was worried about that but in one if my books tehy say swelling is normal if you g=have been on feet all day and if weathers warm so I'm hoping mow I 've finished work they wont swell again if they are swelled on mon I will phoned my midwife just to check I justed wanted to know if anyone else had got any swelling??
Well thats my news other then I still havent got a wedding outfit and teh 1st wedding is on sat so I will be doing lots of shopping this week all teh maternity clothes are not for weddings they are really casual I said to dh it looks like you are not allowed out when your pg
Hoep evryone as a nice weekend
I think we are having a boy as we are stuck on boys names as I dont love any thats teh only reason why,Bina are you finding out teh sex? when is your 20wks scan mine is 17th Augs but we arent finding out.
Love gemxxxx
