IVF NHS BAKING AND HAVERING

Post by Pat19 »

Hi Girl's,

Is anyone else waiting for IVF with the NHS funding it, living in the Barking or Havering Area? It's just that I was told last year I had to wait 15mths, which I have, and today I've just received a letter from them say the B & H health authority has disbanded and no longer exists. I just wanted to know if this effects anyone else? I am sooooooooooo upset

Thanks
Pat

Pat,

I don't totally understand the medical system anywhere but in the US (and I barely understand it here :? )

But that sounds SO WRONG! They should have kept in touch with you after giving you such a long wait time. It is hard for us because we've had to wait so long and with the old clock ticking and all - it is no trivial matter if we loose months or years.

I so hope for you that you find somewhere good that can treat you successfully very soon. I'm sorry to hear about what happened and will be thinking happy thoughts for you as you decide what to do next.

Hi Pat

Now that's just so wrong for this to have happened to you. I am fuming for you. It makes me so cross as the people who decide these things obviously have no idea what they are putting people like you through. I expect they have got their families and never had anything like IVF to contend with and as for waiting 15 months like being told and then receiving the letter saying that it's been disbanded is unbelievable. Did they give you any numbers to call about what happens to you now??

I am shocked, really shocked. I am noy in or near that area as I am in the Redhill health authority but have my TMT in Croydon at the Mayday who are wonderful by the way!

I really sorry that this has happened to you and I hope you manage to get it sorted out without having anymore time wasted.

Good luck

Love Dagny xkx

Hi Pat
dealing with the NHS, doctors and receptionists makes my stress levels unbearable! Now I don't know a huge amount about the NHS - although I know I should as my DH works in it (I never pay much attention). What I do know however is that health authorities don't just disband and disappear altogether. What they do is merge or reconfigure themselves in some way. Therefore all that should have happened is effectively new management.

If you can face it, get on the phone and make some calls. Find a number in the phone book and start from there. Although its always pretty horrid doing this it should set your mind at rest. There should still be treatment out there on the NHS and you should still be on the waiting list, but at a bureaucratic level things might have changed.

Wishing you luck for finding out what happened, and more importantly luck for that all important txt!!
