Acupuncture

Post by Janice »

I read an article on the BBC news website that says that acupuncture can increase IVF success rates by up to 50%. So off I went to find my nearest clinic - had a consultation with the doctor - he didn't understand me and I didn't understand him but never mind! I am going for my first session on Thursday and am now quite scared. Has anyone any experience of acupuncture and can tell me where he will put the needles? Do I need posh bra and nicks that day? etc etc

HI JANICE, I TRIED ACUPUNCTURE JUST ONCE, NOT REALLY PAINFUL JUST UNCOMFORTABLE FOR A LITTLE WHILE, I DIDNT GO AGAIN BECAUSE THE DOCTOR SAID IT COULD TAKE MONTHS & MONTHS FOR ANYTHING TO POSSIBLY HAPPEN.He suggested i visit two or three times aweek, at £40 for each appointment i thought it could be too expensive with no real results
to go by. Anything is worth trying and i hope you are successful, posh bra & nicks, why not?
let us know how you get on. Deborah xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Janice,
I've started having acupuncture, and am having my third session this week. So far it's been a really pleasant and relaxing experience.
It's costing me £28 per session, and lasts a couple of hours. The guy took a full medical history, takes my pulse and blood pressure every time, and also examines my tongue.
The needles aren't painful at all, and I have them connected to an electrical pulse, which sounds terrifying but is really relaxing. He also uses a process called Moxibustion, which is a kind of hot rocks thing. All completely painless I promise, in fact I would go so far as to say, I really enjoy it.
So far my back problem has been completely cured by it, so I've got high hopes for the endometriosis.
The needles go all over really, in my back, legs, ankles, hands, and stomach. It's very discreet, so you don't need to worry about posh knicks!
I'd really recommend it, I don't know if it's going to work, but I'm willing to give it a try (I read that BBC atricle too). I think after we've already spent £6000 this year on ICSI, and probably another £500-£1000 on vitamins and nutrition therapy, we might as well splash a bit more cash.
Good luck , and hope you enjoy it too!
Tee xx
