Hi, :D

Was just after another bit of information  , can you tell me what tests you had to have at womens before starting ivf, as i believe this varies from hospital to hospital.

With some they do the lot, i just wanted to know whether it would save any time if i asked the my GP to do them before i get my appointment with consultant.

Hope you are all well and things are progressing nicely, i keep checking on how you are.

Take care and thank you in advance :)

Love

Hi Sue,
I can only answer from my experience but as my problem is early menopause i had my FSH and LH blood tests done so they were up to date for the appointment oh and thyroid function as I have an under active thyroid. My DP had his sperm tested with his GP. My hospital repeated all these tests. I always went to appointments with any relevant up to date blood results and of course a list of questions I wanted to ask, you forget everything once you get in there. i hope this helps I don't know what problems you have so I can't be more specific, good luck and keep us up to date love Jill x

Hi Sue

I had blood test to check FSH and LH as Jill said - also they check your resistance to rubella

DH has had several sperm test

It will depend on the problem though - as ours is male factor I don't know if I have had the same or less tests - they are treating me as if I have no problems

DH has also had blood tests for hormone levels and a chromosome issue (the results of which we are still awaiting)

I had bloods down at my GP initially but the hospital redid them after our patient evening - so I am not sure it will help

Did you find out there stats for last year?

Take Care - the waiting seems to be the hardest bit at the moment

This site really helps - as I read yesterday (Debbie I think?) noone but us can REALLY understand what we are going through and everyone is so brave it is inspirational

Love and baby dust to all

Thank you for your replies, it is really appreciated.

I had ep Dec 03 which ruptured so tube removed and HSG confirmed other tube was blocked :( . Was only trying for 4 months before ep, so my thinking is that there cant be much else wrong, but you never know till the tests are done, i just need to know what we are fighting against, the waiting is tough and i havent even got to the treatment!! You will have to share your strategies for coping, once i do start, i am sure i will need the help.

How are things going with you Jill?, it must be so worrying, i bet you cant wait to get to the next milestone. If/when i get pregnant i dont think i will relax till its born, it is sad to think that quite often we miss out on the joy of being pregnant with all the worries involved.

How is your treatment going Jules, where are you up to? Has the tiredness lifted? Was told the website was being updated with results, so will check it out and let you know when i find them.

Just wondering, when you get the tests done do they take long to come back?

Take care

Love

Hello Sue

Post by Cate »

sorry didn't answer sooner do know what and this is a weird thing but I can't remember!!!??? I think my mind is so full of trying to find out about amnino etc and generally worrying myself sick though have spoken to lots of people who have had amnio which I didn't reliase and everything been fine, I don't know I must either have a lot of old friends or know a lot of worried people!?.....
But seriously in the first place I think they did blood tests on me and insisted had sperm test from Paul who was very reluctant thinking everything fine with him etc etc. they said that very often it is the men and no point in treating me without checking him.
At that point we were both fine and did clomid tablets for a year two lots of six months which I regret deeply now after the first six months should have bit the bullet coughed up cash and done IVF anyway after the second six months my eggs were older and Paul's sperm count had gone to 3something it should be 10??? So after them testing and finding out that we were stuck with one option ICSI which thankfully worked 1st time but of course I am a year+ older now 40 which means I having lousy odds of things not being right because of age and the forced un natural ICSI thing. You are very much in their hands but depending on your age and money avaiable I would start IVF as soon as possible if I had to do it all again. Hope some of that helps Cate xxxx

Hi Sue,
Good to hear from you and thanks for asking after me. I am ok but still can't relax for a second, I have what i would describe as constant AF pains and have had since 2nd week of 2ww and I am now 7 weeks, the worry just goes on. I have my scan tomorrow so I hope I feel better after that. I hope you are doing well and that the ball starts rolling soon it's the waiting for things to happen that is so hard take care love Jill x

Thanks again for the information,

i have been watching your progress.

cate : It must been so hard making the decision about amnio, but whatever you decide as long as its what you want is all that matters. I guess like with life, we tend to hear all the negative stories first, its only once we dig a bit deeper do the positive ones come to light! :D

Jill: really hoping that you get the best news ever tomorrow and then you can start to relax a little  over the coming months.

Im going to dec information evening, so may well be starting treatment about March, now it seems very close, its scarey but i am also excited to be moving forward.

Take care both of you

love
