ok - LOVED the cosi maxi....looked easy to use, visually good, can tighten seat belt at the front...guess what.....

...didn't fit the flipping car did it???? bummer...bummer...bummer

the 'which' car seat said the new (and expensive) Britax Isofix was great - looked good but will fir one of our cars and not the other...

two other choices - both Britax - one looked good, weight ok, would fit cars. The other was better practically as it had seat belt tightener at front and you could easily adjust straps BUT was bigger and heavier and didn't look quite as nice....

Can't decide, so I'm away out again tomorrow.

What sort of cars you got then?

I have the Britax one which was voted best car seat in the Mother & Baby book. The one I have is black with a light orange check if that makes sense. You can adjust the seatbelt at the front and it has a recline on. I also liked it because the cover is washable. You know the maxi one, was that sort of a velvet material? If so I loved that one but I thought when Alex gets older and starts eating and drinking in the back its going to look so horrible?

......well then you need to get a new car! Oh that really is a bummer, I hate it when you've settled on something but then the choice is taken away but you're still thinking that you want it.

It just goes to show how important it is to check that they fit, although you'd think that they would be more adaptable.

There's a nice britax seat that goes from 0 - 4. I think it has an insert for newborns, and is rear facing to begin with. If you're planning on another....no actually scrap that suggestion as Sam will still be using it anyway, so that wouldn't work.

Oh well, good luck with finding one.

I'm fine by the way. We're just about speaking now, although I'm still muttering w*nker when he's not in earshot, and I very immaturely stick my two fingers up through the wall at him .....ain't love grand!

there is a velour seat in the maxi cosi range but it does come in various different fabrics. I wanted the velour one but it wasn't in stock, and I'm glad now because Dan is such a little sweat box that I think he would have overheated lying on that find of fabric.

It's a minefield this shopping for baby equiptment, as it's so pricey but very easy to make mistakes. I spent eighty quid on a 'stylish' highchair with all the features that I wanted, and within a couple of weeks realised that actually it looked like a disability chair.

Its a nightmare isn't it, I have a highchair for Alex as well its the prima papa one which is Mama's and Papa's it's really nice. I am just trying to find a travel highchair which folds down now so that when I take Alex to my parents etc... he's got somewhere to eat his food. I have seen one in Argos and Index but they are £50 and when you've already paid £90 on one it works out expensive.

The car chair I have Sue is for Newborn babies too, rear facing then can be faced forward so that is really good value for money.

I am glad you and your other half are talking which is nice, the thing is when I ain't talking to mine it does my head in and I go ever so nasty ha ha.

Yip - I wanted the black velour one toooooo - hang practicality shell, it looked good. LOL

To answer your question Shell, we have a toyota Rav 4, and a wee Punto as the runaround that we bought from Steve's mum & dad. The Rav would take the new locking systems that don't use a belt, but the punto wouldn't.

So, we are still undecided. It's between the Britax Renaissance (I think it might be the one you have?????) and the First Plus ( as this one seems to go in any car more-or-less - now I've said that, it probably won't now!!!! I think this is the one you might mean Sue????). Me too Shell - we liked the black with the thin orange checks (and I hate checks normally! - great taste. LOL)

By the way Shell, I'm sure I saw a travel chair in mothercare or babies r us (the ones that sit on ordinary chairs???). I saw one for £40 in Big W today, although I'm sure I saw the other ones cheaper - just can't remember where-doohhh. It's wierd - I was just talking about them today with Steve's mum - I need to get one and leave it at her house...my mum's got my friends old highchair so we're ok when we go there and one less thing to take!

Know what you mean about this being a costly business. We were even worse - spent 100 quid on a highchair than we just seen with £20 knocked off....

Sam's a bit sweaty himself these days - I think it's his teeth. He's got 2 now - with another almost through. Awwwwwwwwwwww!!!!

Hi Zoe,

Well I will try again, I typed a post to you and then when I went to send it, it went off my PC typical.

I never usually go for checks myself but this seat I am so impressed with it and Alex always looks so comfy in it so I am just so glad I had it. I think what drawed me to it also was that you can actually take the seat cover off and wash it and to me that is always a big bonus.

Isn't it lovely to see them with there teeth coming through.

How much does Sam weigh now?

Alex is going to be weighed on Wednesday so I will get a rough idea.

Do any of you go on E-Bay? I love it I am so addicted to it, I am selling some good things, let me know if you want my username (leap frog things up for grabs)

My H/V has said now Alex has teeth I have to start brushing them LOL
Unless she thought he had smelly breath ha ha only kidding, off to shops today to get him a soft toothbrush.

Alex has 2 teeth its so great ain't it Zoe.
