Wots a good weight???

I took Phoebe to the health visitor for weighing a couple of week ago. She was measured as a 31 week as she was 5 week early. She weighed 17lb. A good weight??? Not according to the health visitor. Phoebe is just above the 25 centile but I dont understand why. She looks v healthy and has a lovely little tubby belly. No-body can believe what the health visitor said. When I mentioned that I thought she may weigh a bit more than that she said 'her weight isnt anything to be worried about - at the moment, but we may need to keep an eye on her.'
Well, you can imagine what I was thinking - social services, at risk register!!!!!
How has everyone elses babes weights been?

If i was you i wouldnt worry aslong a syou know she is eatting, they said thats too me but mine eat all the time, their 10mths and Brodi weighs just over 18lb and Kyle just over 20lb but i know that they eat so i dont worry!!!

I agree completely with Lou, I used to worry myself sick about Alex and what the h/v was saying to me but now I don't worry so much. Alex hasn't been weighed for a while I did put him on my scales and he does weigh about 23lb now and he is 10 months Alex was 11lb 5oz born though so that also makes a difference.

Bertie, Maya weighed 18.3lbs at 31 weeks (and has always been around the 50th percentile except at birth) so Pheobe sounds well within the 'normal' range. As Louise said, if you know that she's eating well and still gets her milk each day, plus that she enjoys a balanced diet, I wouldn't worry too much. You could always try giving her a little extra milk if she'll take it at bedtime. If you put us on all on a scale, we'd be all over the place too!
