Can anyone tell me -....if theres a problem with dh sperm or if it has to be collected surgically via TESA (which I think we'll have to do) - do all clinics do preliminary tests on the guy before treatment starts to make sure that there will be sperm there of good quality when the time comes. Do some clinics freeze sperms at that stage in case they cant get any at e/c time?

HAs anyone got to e/c stage and been then told that they couldn't fertilise any eggs because of poor sperm or not having found any surgically? I imagine this would be totally devasting having been thru all the stiffing and injecting.

Does this make sense!? HAs anyone got any words of wisdom.
CAnt belive I haven't started yet and already thinking about all teh worst case scenarios!
Hi Caz.

From another Kaz!. Well my dh has poor motility after a vasectomy reversal 3 years ago. His last count was 25million (quite OK), but only 8% Motile, should be 40%. But when I went to see the GP to get referred to the Specialist he said that they can do IUI with this quality of sperm. He said it is washed and then the good 'ens are separated from the rest! I think we will need ICSI though. My dh done a test a week ago, but the hospital wrote and said it was Inconclusive ? whatever that means! He's got to do another specimen next Tuesday. But I suppose it depends on different circumstances and what the specialist thinks???

We are at the beginning also. Ive got a day 2 blood test on Monday.

Karen

Hi Caz,
My husband had a vasectomy during a previous relationship. which was carried out using the tubal fusion method. That particular method has a very low reversal rate success. Because of my age (39) It was decided to go for icsi using tesa/pesa This has already been carried out and the sperm frozen until EC, if the sperm do not survive the freezing (Which I am told can sometimes happen), then he will be on Standby on EC for another procedure.
This was obviously the best option for us, as we had no way of knowing whether there would be sperm present or not and I personally did not wish to get to EC stage to be told there were no sperm present.

I have been sniffing for a week now, AF is due tommorow and my base scan should be Saturday, All being well I will start injecting Saturday night can't wait!!!!.

Whatever stage you are at........ Good Luck

bfn
Amanda
