Hi all...I posted this earlier in Introductions, but I'm copying here to see if anyone can help. ANY experiences, good or bad, would be very appreciated!
I just found this board while searching the net for information, and after reading some of the posts I had to register! I'm 35, hubby is 46 (his is the second marriage for both). We've been TTC for over a year, he has 3 kids previously, I have had trouble all my life...miscarriage at 18, then scar tissue buildup as a result. Bilateral fimbrioplasty at 22 while married, and no birth control since I was 20, with no results and no diagnosis, even though I was asking my doctors for help. Then I moved to a new city and now have a wonderful, PROACTIVE doctor at a local fertility clinic who is taking me seriously! Two weeks ago I had my left fallopian tube removed due to damage from the scar tissue once again. Periods have always been normal, yet they found my prolactin to be a little high (only 29)? I'm currently on Bromocriptine, and I'm wondering if anyone can give me their opinions of this drug, as I seem to be having a little difficulty with the headaches and nausea.
She seems to think that this alone should help us get pregnant, but if we have no natural results within six months we are going the IVF route. Just wondering if anyone here has any stories about their experience with Bromo pre-IVF?

Hi ladies, and thanks for the welcome! I've been doing a fair bit of research online in the last couple of days and have read more positive results than negative. Not many that sound like my case, as most had very irregular cycles, but I'm sure that there will be some answers here, everyone seems so helpful!

Hi Kanndy,
Welcome to the site. I have been on Bromocriptine for well over 5 years. Unfortunately I have tried to come off it a few times over the years – but my prolactin level rockets up again – so I will be on it until I get pg.
When I first started taking it I did get really bad headaches, nausea and dizzyness. I have recently had my dosage upped to 5mg a day and all the side effects came back – but you soon get used to it and the side effects disappear. If you really struggle with it there is another drug that they can give you that doesn’t cause side effects, hasn’t been around as long as Bromocriptine, but I believe it is as effective.
If you’ve got any questions – please fire away!
Love

Wow, Dolly....5 years?? I'm really hoping to be off it soon! How high was your prolactin? I'm only on 1.25 mg a day right now, until I get used to the side effects and then upping it to 2.5, probably about a month or two. They're not so bad now, I think I'm finally getting used to it. They are working, however...no more leaking, after only 3 weeks or so, but I still get the dizziness every so often, mainly because I already had very low blood pressure before beginning the medication, which seems to be only making it worse. What's your opinion of it...do you think it's worth it?
