Acupuncture and Licorice sweets

Post by fiona_lk »

Hi all,

I've made a first step positive towards the next cycle.

I went for my first acupuncture treatment on Saturday and very relaxing it was too. She said that my kidney had suffered a bit from all the drugs and such, and so she will concentrate on getting me healthy first.

I explained that we didn't want to go down the boiling herbs route (not gonna give my mother something else to complain about!) and she's given me these licorice gobstoppers - seriously. If all medicine was this pleasant no one would mind being ill - heehee. these will get my cycle back to normal and help to improve the quantity of my uterus lining.

She's also hoping to treat Les (as him having mumps should cause no problems in improving sperm quality) and wants us to go for a few natural cycles - but still not sure on that one. Was hoping to cycle again Feb/Mar time. We'll have to see.

Anyway, levels down to 2k now so going back to TKD tonight (gently, at first, of course) so slowly easing myself back into reality. Doing quite well on not over eating this time - determined not going to go up a size this time!

Oh well, have rambled and missing Stargate.

Still love you all

Fiona xxxxx

Hi Fiona

I am so interested to hear that you are having acupunture - as I read a mag article the other week that said it improved your success with IVF upto 50%...well worth a try hey!
I am planning to try it too if we are not lucky on Friday and dont get a +ive..my hubby had mumps when he was 9 - the reason why we are having so many problems now..so please let me know if they think that they can increase the count and motility at all and I will drag him along to a local chinese doctor - I thought that if you had mumps the cells were damaged so no more sperm could ever been made!! I hope that I am wrong - what a wonderful thought that hubby could be fixed..if only a little!

Love becky b

Hi Fi
So happy to hear that you are doing better. If this cycle fails for me (I'm on day 7 of the 2ww) I will definetly try accupuncture....anything is worth a try and I have also heard really positive things about it. Do you know yet how frequently you will be doing it?
Sending you lots of love, Michelle xxxxxxx

Hi ladies - not sure I fancy the acupuncture (having done 3 injections a day for the last fortnight I'm keen to give needles a break) but the licquorice (however spelt!) sounds fab! More seriously we're both wondering whether we can do stuff on the diet front to improve the quality of the embryos, as this seems to be our problem. I've done the obvious (from 3 weeks before down-reg virtually cut out alcohol, 1 tea a day - plus 1 diet coke which I couldn't quite get out of the habit of, and trying to eat vaguely healthily) but still relied rather heavily on ready meals - just with a lot of veg with them! I remember I think it was Tee talking in the summer about the foresight programme but have a feeling this was mainly for boys? Anyone know any more? Not that I'm planning on doing anything diet-wise (or alcohol wise!) immediately what with Christmas and all that and then off skiing in January (small compensations).

Would be good to chat but I can't do tomorrow either - I've got a squash match which should do me the world of good although not quite sure how I explain all the bruises on my stomach from injections!

Anyway, take care and hope Fi has/had a great weekend in New York - wow! Much love

Alison x
